I tell ya….. – A complete turnaround for someone who was sure they wanted to be in drama, last year… maybe Luann has “cooled off” on pursuing that….. which is understandable! But just an ironic juxtaposition that now an opportunity comes along later, she isn’t interested in it, per se… maybe last year, her heart was in drama for the “wrong reason”….. she did mostly highlight (even more than mentioning her just participating in the acting experience) that she was hoping for “romantic moments” with Quill during the camp, last year…. – And wanting a “non bummer Summer” is great! But Quill has to offer the “canoodling couch” for her to want to be near him as he works? I thought she wanted to see more of him. Yep, it was never about the time spent… it was about what she wants to do during that time…. Which for her seems to have no “off switch”…

Looks like a plot-shift, giving Luann the ability to watch drama class, gain interest, and possibly take it up as a career… or at least like it for more than just because Quill is in it.

What’s this? Despite Nancy and Frank’s careful upbringing, Luann is turning to the sleazy side?

If he cares about this future career like he did in the beginning of the week he shouldn’t have suggested this…

But yeah, the “couch” idea could set up some confrontations with Tiff… That should prove interesting.

Spend the summer going on walks together, swimming at the lake, playing Monopoly, Scrabble, and Canasta, eating pizza at the newest pizza place in town, sharing a bottle of Boones Farm Apple Wine, and then get into a situation that you will regret for the rest of your life because you can’t turn back and undo it, and you got that birth control prescription a few days too late. Is that what you want Luann?

Luann is a senior, her last free summer was last summer. Not to say she can’t goof off & fool around with her boyfriend this summer but once high school ends ‘real life’ starts.She needs a paying job…

So they’ll get busted having sex, he’ll get kicked out of school, they’ll break up and then in 3 weeks she’ll turn up pregnant. Only THEN will the real fun begin…

Quill is a real glutton for punishment. No matter how bad Luann treats him he keeps coming back for more. Notice her body language in the last panel. He is a nice guy, he should be with a nice girl.

Quill won’t have sex with Luann any time soon, certainly not on the sofa when he is at work. He is just saying that to string her along and keep her interested.

And now I have the image of Luann and Quill making out stuck in my head… someone please pass me the brain bleach

Number 5 is pretty spot on.

Luann is becoming more and more of a one dimensional character. Even with this drama camp twist, I feel like she’s going to be walking into an unpleasant wake up call. At least I hope she does. As the comic’s main protagonist she needs more character development.

And “sofa” is code-word for…?

I wonder if Greg is retiring. Maybe he’s Mr. Fogarty.

Won’t Lu need to earn some money for college?*2) Considering this is an academic setting and not real life, Qu is about to get himself fired on day 1 (in commercial film, unfortunately, the casting couch is actually a requirement for budding actors— women only). (FYI, it’s both sex discrimination and sex harassment.)

Why does Luann look stoned arguing?

The sofa doesn’t sound like an original idea; maybe Q & L will need to “take a number”, or instead of Tiffany catching them they catch her (and Ox) and are “scared straight” when she suffers consequences, OR (to the delight of some of the children on these boards) Q & L ARE caught and Quill gets deported for “corrupting the morals of a minor”.

That’s pretty unlikely. Unless Professor Manicotti is very unpopular with her real students, so they’d rather get a job somewhere else instead of doing something related to their academic interests!

Or the remake, “Mummy Dearest”….

Who else thinks it would be a REALLY good plot twist if Aaron Hill showed up at the Junior college where LuAnn is going? It would certainly stir up more drama! :-)

Is that what you’re all looking for?

Finally! There is some hint of forthcoming “teenage action.” Quill is giving Luann an opportunity to indulge in “making out” and “playing.” However, when it gets to the sofa in the prop room, I anticipate some sort of “interruption.” Oh well, I prefer that type of thing over the tedious Prom Night events. Let us just sit back, relax and see what is yet to come…

Since the cartoonist has experience with an unplanned pregnancy (he and the mother gave the baby up for adoption), I doubt he’ll show it in the strip. Too much drama.

And the people here will continue to denounce Tiffany as the wanton and promiscuous harlot and future adult film star that they are all convinced she is (even though she’s never even had a serious boyfriend).

Who knows what Nancy said to Luann about a surgical procedure (sometimes for religious or medical reasons) that Quill may or may not have had. Most women I have ever talked to say that it is meaningless. We can only conjecture…

After re-reading the past few days of this: I would say that things are getting intense…

I tend to agree with you…he’ll pass into the jaws of MU, and never be heard from again as he makes new female friends there… ;)
