The good thing is that Angus has no idea who the Sounds o’ Plenty are. Lets hope he doesn’t find out because he’s not too happy with Dick Tracy right now (among others).
There’s no way they could have the baby without anyone knowing. Least anyone forget Sparkle and Junior already have a daughter who assume is the one with Gertie. If they named her after her mother that would be obvious.
If they’ve had the baby, someone knows, but maybe not the radio audience. Sparkle is the one with Gertie in the strip. “Leetle” Jewel who is home with the flu is Sparkle’s daughter.
Sparkle and Junior announced on the air that they were expecting a baby 7 months ago on November 17. Presuming that Sparkle didn’t just become pregnant that day (of course) it is very possible that the baby has now been born. We don’t know how much time has gone by in Tracy land during the last 7 months of strips, but we do know that the winter has come and gone during that time (by the evidence of snow and ice). The fact that “There’s a Brand New Baby at Our House” appears for the second time in two days certainly suggests that it’s an important plot point.
Tabby just keeps on stepping in it doesnt he? First Franken-Miindy, now Gertie and Sparkle. Tho i dont like the ominous overtones of a wild horse named Nightmare and a pregnant Sparkle Tracy nearby
I am really loving this story. It is a good old-fahioned crime drama/mystery with a complex twists and turns, actual detective work, crooked cops, and Gouldian coincidences. What could be better?
@Pequod77: Thanks for your kind comments yesterday concerning my set design work. If you see Vieux Carre, please let me know your impressions.
If Montana Joe really has a western background, and if Tabby Angus has a killer-horse he wants to hide from the law for a while until the heat is off…. And if that horse should take a dislike to Sparkle and/or Gravel Gertie….The possibilities are chilling.
As far as we know, he’s coming to the radio station to get some water for his horse. It’s only a coincidence that two people in the Tracy extended family happen to be there, because Angus has no idea who they are.
Intro (skip if you’ve already read any of the previous intros):
Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.
My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.
There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: the first type is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator when needed. The other type (this type) is anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song. I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before.
End Intro
Only one link would seem to do for this strip, especially since it was referenced in the previous day’s strip, a clip from I Love Lucy of Desi Arnaz as Ricky Ricardo singing this song:

To whom it may concern: The Chickweed World War II story is finally over. Sniff, sniff. It was a good’n.
