It seems that “d” might be the most plausible. Ms. Manezone would have a key to the prop room, where neither Mrs. Berger nor Gunther would have one.

Looks like L & Q are going to be “adventurous,” that’s for sure, melmarsh9v. But, knowing Greg, I don’t think this arc is going to satisfy some of the voyeuristic “Luann” posters on this forum… =-O

Gunther is gone. Now is the time to bring back Aaron Hill. Aaron’s now out of high school too and now he wants to leave Hawaii and attend a college on the mainland. There could be some past and present relationship problems for Luann at the same time.

Well, I can think of ONE thing that won’t have to propped up in the Prop Room!

And a large set piece falls over crushing Quill; end of Quill story line.

I wonder if that’s where they store their propellers.

I’m thinking that she’d interrupt them before it got that far. I’d think she’d believe that to be a lot more frustrating to Lu than mere blackmail, at this point, which was, really, only effective at school (where she could actually get into real trouble). To whom would Tiff send the pics now in a blackmail attempt? Frank & Nancy? The “Authorities?” I don’t think Tiff has any more leverage in that regard. The only thing she can do to be a “foil” to Lu is be there to disrupt her and Quill finding “private time and space.”

Reminds me of by first— and best— roommate in college. Unfortunately she had to leave after the first semester because the day before starting college, she had “farewell” sex with her boyfriend. Her parents disowned her unless she went through with the pregnancy & put the little one up for adoption. Hope Lu and Qu don’t make the same mistake.

Definitely possible, and a case could be made for it since Quill rejected Tiff for Lu last summer during the George/Martha play. But I’m thinking that Tiff’s primary focus (and mission life) is to be a foil for Lu. Blackmailing Quill into departing might be an indirect way to do that, but I’m not sure Tiff has the smarts to execute that effectively, or the patience to wait for it to happen, “longer term.” I see Tiff as getting in “quick hits” like interrupting them.

Luann is always pouting if Quill doesn’t want to “make out”. I hope her parents like grandkids because with Luann’s attitude, I see her with three kids from three different fathers, and living off her parents. I hope otherwise, but unfortunately this comic strip is very reality based.

Tiffany has shown no interest in Quill after he finally came out and told her he doesn’t like her. Tiffany getting involved would make no sense, she has outgrown these characters and is trying to make something of herself. Why would she care about Luann and her lack of goals?

Because it’s Tiff’s mission to make Lu’s life as miserable as possible, due to the history between them. And the fact that she is attending Moony Uni tells me that Greg/Karen aren’t done with her yet. Otherwise, she be gone just like Delta, Rosa and Gunther (if only temporarily).

I’m thinking more in terms of holding it over Quill’s head as a threat, and using that leverage to get him to treat her better during the camp.

Ah, that might very well be interesting! Will he succumb to it, or do the right thing and risk the exposure to foil Tiff?

Have to admit, I’m disappointed to see Luann still with Quill. I was hoping she had decided to move on with her life and look at what activities might be available to meet new friends (boys and otherwise) at the state school campus. That will be especially important to her, since her former best buddies are all going elsewhere.(Bernice will probably want to live on campus)

I liked the cliffhanger ending for Rosa & Gunther….not sad, just filled with a little magic. Will they actually fall in love? Will Gunther get Rosa pregnant? Will they discover a new life in Peru? Will we ever see them again?

Speaking as a mother and grandmother, Gunther has got to go to college and get a career (he wants to be an engineer).Have fun for the summer, but he better get his xxx back here to school. Rosa is a spoiled rich girl, who does work hard, but not a earning a living. I can’t see Rosa’s family supporting him forever. Maybe after his summer, he will want to be a doctor…..

You have to remember that Hollywood is not the whole state. From Santa Barbara north, the state is much more conservative. A lot like Florida that way, in fact; Florida is three states in one. Northern Panhandle is like Georgia (except for the Gainesville area); Central Florida is fairly conservative, except maybe for the areas around University of Central Florida; and then there’s south Florida, with Broward County (Democratic party stronghold) and Miami-Dade, a county that has a foreign policy….

Quill was a senior when he first came to Pitt, while Luann was still a junior. I would think he is easily 19 now, and certainly he is no longer a minor.

Is Luann really so obsessed with sex? I don’t think so. She is obsessed with the Idea of sex with her boyfriend. She is probably relieved that something usually frustrates her so-called plan…. Quill’s thinking is more opaque. Does he really want to “do” Luann, or is he being something of a tease here?

I have cousins in Santa Barbara, and I visited them a couple of years ago. When we were out seeing the sights, some of the comments made by tour guides made me feel like I was visiting Panhandle Florida…

Don’t you wish Luann had an interest besides Quill and only Quill? Even drama camp, which is supposedly her only semi-interest, gets a “Mmm, whatever” from Luann. She could care less.

And neither do I. I honestly don’t know what’s in store for Lu, so I can’t say what I want. I don’t know if she should be with Gunther eventually or not.

To be honest, I don’t find her the most interesting character in the strip, even though the strip is supposed to be about her. Now, if she were to “mature up” a bit (in re: "relationships – she’s pretty mature when it comes to work, taking care of kids, etc.), then I might get more interested. Rosa is interesting, and Toni is interesting. Lu, not as much, but she has potential. I hope she uses it.

Well…. if it’s Lu, then the strip will be going in a much different (and stronger) direction. Not sure I’d want that. And, if so, then I think it would just about kill any chance of Gunther and Lu reconnecting.

One wonders if, because Greg based Luann originally on his real life daughter, that in some ways she amongst all the characters was the most constrained as to what he might have them do or not do (in the past … not sure if Karen has changed that dynamic).

That would be the $64K question. It could be about Karen’s emerging influence, but there may also still be the constraint about appealing to a “youth based” target audience…. Not sure that the Luann demographic is ready to deal with “teen pregnancy….” especially if/when Lu is the affected teen. :-)

I would bring up the “construct- o-site” about this, but I can’t link to it (for obvious reasons)… – But I remember that Greg stated that he was M.O.R. in dealing with these issues…. he may touch upon subjects, but says that he himself is “old-fashioned’” in certain respects. He “walks a fine line” in between being both a “fuddy duddy” and “not a fuddy duddy” (for lack of a better term, at the moment.).

Also in connection with that, he mentioned that he "stays away from the ‘having sex in comics’ ", yet will depict the issues revolving what people go through, growing up….

Wow! Mr. Evans knows for sure to throw us readers for a loop! I keep thinking disaster is going to happen to Gunth & Rosa, even though in the past Greg Evans said he wants to somewhat “not too rough” and “positive.” I don’t know if he wants to change the script like how Lisa died in the comic strip, “Funky Winkerbean.” Anyway, if something bad happens to Gunth, Rosa, or Luann (Getting Pregnant), it might not shock me. I know this is a comic strip and make believe, but I’ve always thought comic strips also imitate life. Once again, I have to think of a song Gary Allen sang called, “Life ain’t always beautiful.” Sure, life has tragedies in your life, but you will always overcome your problems and prevail. Just like a gambler who wins a lot of money in Las Vegas, the mob gets a hold of him, tries to kill “Mr. Lucky”, but the good guys show up and the lucky man is lucky to be alive with nothing but the clothes on his back.

Quill! and Luann will open the prop room in search of the sofa – and they find Mrs. Manzone ravishing Mr. Fogarty on it.

Luann doesn’t seem to like Quill much unless there is physical contact. She doesn’t enjoy just talking to him and being with him. Not a good sign.

The son (Greg’s “grandson”) is whom I believe is being considered to replace Greg as the “artist” (with Karen doing the writing), once Greg decides to retire. But. hopefully, not for a good long while.

Like “Growing Up Brady”, where it is explained how behind the scenes no one scored because the kids were always interrupted by adults, there will always be interruptions preventing Luann and Quill from scoring. This is a comic strip that brings storylines to the edge of censorship, keeping it family friendly by media standards. .

I just wanted to say, do young people say “stoked?” I don’t think so, that’s what we used to say in the 80s! I’ve never heard my kids say it.

Will they accidently get locked in the prop room like Brad & Toni did in the closet?
