It seems, these days, people tend to use the terms Wiccan and Wicca as completely synonymous with the terms Witch and Witchcraft respectively. Especially those who are not well versed on the religion or its traditions. The term Wicca first achieved widespread acceptance when referring to the religion in the 1960s and 70s. The term is still not in common usage among many not familiar with the religion. Besides, a modern Wiccan looks nothing like the stereotyped, green faced witch. No, Iâm not a Wiccan, I just looked it up in my computerâs dictionary. Although I do have an acquaintance who claims to be one, and will correct you if you use the term witch, I, personally, know little about it.
We prefer being called wiccans, too many times Iâve had fingers pointing in my face telling me that Iâm a devil worshiper when Iâve used the term witch. I love when people act like itâs a teenage whim â Iâm 47 and been wiccan for almost 30 years, some whim.
âThe Witchesâ by Roald Dahl said that witches were bald, had claws and square feet. To disguise this, they had to wear wigs, gloves, and high heels (which were uncomfortable for them). The witches would try and kill kids, usually by offering them poisoned candy or cursed toys.

Anyone who wonders why Michael is such a smart aleck needs to review the old cliché about apples, trees, and how far the former fall.

The Wicked Witch in the 1939 âWizard of Ozâ was to be a glamorous witch (like in âSleeping Beautyâ) played by Galye Sondergaard.

The witches I know (including my cousin) are nice people and a lot of fun to be around. Theyâre Wiccans.

A reaction can be a facial expression. It doesnât have to be verbal. And Iâm sure you know that very wellâŠ

The smug smile in Johnâs face in the last panel shows that Elly correctly read the look he gave her (in my opinion).
