She’s still honing her sculpting tools. She’s tropic to his malleability.

The reason that more schools are starting earlier is because we don’t have that many full-time moms any more, so they are maximizing the time that parents working outside the home don’t have to arrange for someone to take care of their kids.

The Board of Education is slowly cutting away summer vacation. Originally, it wasn’t a “vacation”, but time off so that the children could help their parents in the harvest. In Japan, there is no “summer vacation” as such, but the kids get one week off every semester, I think. That’s why they’re so far ahead of everyone.

My youngest is 29 & I don’t teach anymore so I’m not affected, but here school starts Aug 27. When I was a kid it was always day after Labor Day – and no schools had A/C, and the HS was next door to a pig farm……………

School here started about 3 weeks ago, I’m on the Gulf Coast. The kids get a week off every year for Mardi Gras, so I’m sure that time is part of the reason for the early start.

OK – Here on the Wet Coast (though you wouldn’t believe it from the nice summer we have had) British Columbia…except for a handfuls of schools – every elementary and high school (and middle school for those areas that have them) start school the day after Labour Day. School ends the last Friday in June. there are a small number (very small) of schools that are trying the year ‘round thing. So every 3 months the kids get 2-3 weeks off. Maybe more. I don’t know. THIS year – school will begin …… after the strike. The teachers say if everything goes well this week – kids will be back in school on time. The govt has promised parents $40/day per child under the age of 12 from the start of school until the strike is over and the kids are back.and we all know how long things really take…. Parents are hoping for before Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving – first weekend in October.

and Toby is going to learn how much angst and clichés there are in the couples group. His safest bet is just keep his mouth shut and follow Shelia’s lead.

School here does not start until after Labor Day. I was shocked to find out it is not the same all over. August is summer, one is not suppose to go to school then.

Everything creeps forward in retail. The past two years back to school started, literally, the week after school ended.

I personally always loved back to school. School was so much better than vacation, which was boring. Now I love it as I stock up on office supplies at really cheap rates.
