Sometimes sleeping with a pet can be a blessing, other times (in this case) ’tis a curse.

Need some heat? Can’t beat the feet! Some dreams seem colored by a furry, fuzzy critter at your feet, looking for it… and some are just interrupted by the process… – Of course, it can happen, and not a “fuzzball” in sight … – That’s because it’s a “two legged’ companion, doing it….. By sleeping wildly……

On the ArcaMax site, I had commented that it seemed amazing to me that a pooch as tiny as Puddles could inspire such scary, heavy dreams. On thinking about it further, I wonder if there are ‘heavier’ inspirations for Luann’s nightmares. She may subconsciously be worrying about all the important decisions she has to make about her future…

Perhaps the dreams show that she considers living at home to be too confining, since she spends so much time hanging out in the dorm at Moony Uni. Send Mrs. Berger to Peru to tend to Gunther, Quill stays in her house to take care of it in her absence, and Luann moves in with him. Problem solved.

One more good argument against living with a dog.

I had an (mostly) Irish setter who would push her back right up against me, almost on top of me, so that if I moved she would get that space. After repeating this a few times I would have make her get down, or yield the middle of the little twin bed. I tried to just move her back over a couple of times. After a great effort, which she fought with passive resistance, I’d get her moved, only to be met with a snort of disgust and a repeat performance.

My (unneutered) cockapoo used to sleep against my side, on his back, his head toward my feet and his legs spread open. NOT a pleasant sight first thing in the morning!

When Quill starts dreaming about you that way, THAT’S the time to worry.

Been there done that, except in my case it’s a cat who insists on sleeping on my feet. Not by them, on them.

I don’t understand why Gregg still draws the dog in such a cartoony way, while people are drawn more realistically.

Our cat slept on my chest – one time, and briefly, just before a midnight flight. Lesson earned.

I no longer having any trouble turning over or changing position in the middle of the night, and I miss the furry lump that used to sleep between my feet on top of the covers.

I used to let my cockatoo nap in my bed, but she chewed holes in the sheets, so when I started buying expensive ones she was not allowed on the bed. If I date anyone with a dog, I make sure it is not allowed either (before we meet).

Cats are just as bad about lying on top of you and I wouldn’t want it any other way

When I had my first two cats, they would lie on either side of my legs, effectively tucking me in. I hate that feeling of bEing pinned down, but I loved having them with me. So, they stayed.

A friend of mine used to handle elephants for the blue unit of the Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus. He told me the following story.

Once in the ring, the elephants were in a line side by side and told to stand on their back feet. Bob, one of the handlers was standing a little too close to one of the elephants, and she stepped on his foot before raising herself up on her back feet. She could feel his foot there, and while she did not remove her foot from his until she was back on all fours, she did shift all her weight onto her other foot until she was able to move it. She basically stood up on one hind foot and barely used the other one for balance. Bob was unharmed.

It could have been a Chessie System locomotive. They’re horns go Meow wow. I’m just joking about the horn. But, there was a Chessie Railroad. It’s now called, CSX.

This is precisely why my dog sleeps in her giant-sized kennel! Actually, when we got her at 5 months of age, she had been trained to sleep in a kennel. She really likes the idea of being safe in it. We only let her sleep in it at night…during the day, if we have to be somewhere where she can’t be, we have a “puppy-pen” (a large 6′ × 4′ wire pen). In it she has her choice of two blankets and a hamburger toy which she ignores. Her kennel has an egg-crate pad with another blanket in it. She has two of her favorite toys in it, a hedgehog (we have at least six or so hedgehogs in various sizes for her), and a squirrel (I think she wishes it was a real one! There’s no way that we would all fit on our bed as Irish Setters usually like to lie horizontally!!! And, IS Katie is a big girl! ;)
