See, Vista Bill? I told you we’d be seeing Gruesome again before long. Not long at all, it turns out.

Good morning, DT fans! Arsenic and old lace is one of my favourite old movies, too! Mi favourite scene is when the gentle old aunties debate about how many people they dispatched before a flabbergasted Cary Grant!

I was going to mention yesterday how depressed Tracy looked that he had to go back to a pencil when he’s used to having a wrist wizard. It seems that that’s what made him go back to the city. See today’s Barney Google and Snuffy Smith comic strip.

Until he added the “Gruesome” at the end, I thought Dick was cheeking Sam…

Good to see Sam displaying his feisty rebellious nature by using an unauthorized coffee mug and not the standard departmental issued MCU one!

“Watching horror movie classics, tequila and emergency rush jobs just don’t mix!”Haha! One of many great lines I’ve seen in this strip since Mike and Joe took over. Love it!

My guess today is that this arc will not be a replay of “Arsenic and Old Lace”; that Johnny Gruesome or Dr. Einstein (Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre) reprise some scenes or lines will be only incidental color. Much will hinge, it would appear at this early stage, on the behavior of Kandikane Lane….

Is “Kandikane” a version of Priscilla Lane??? That would be another tie-in.

Is this what Dick Tracy is going to be now, just endless circa 1940 nostalgia?-—-I don’t think so.Mike and Joe are just working in some of the “forgotten” bad guys from the movies. And Gruesome is a natural for a Halloween story.

Another Tracy movie villian, Cueball, was featured in one story as the owner of a nightclub/pool hall used as a front for a drug operation. Right now, we’re getting a few weeks of catching up, and setting up, I guess. (Sort of getting the players onto the field and into position.)

best criminal plastic surgery picture pic was Dark Passage with Bacall and Bogart. Peter Lorre didn’t join that romp with Bogart Agnes Morehead did and died brilliantly Spooky Peter was the Raven with Vincent Price

Since no-one has mentioned it, I’m finally going to ask (if anyone reads this far down), who is in the framed portrait above Dr. Einstein’s head. My first impression was that it was a mouse, but it actually looks like a cat, and it does look familiar.
