Ned: So, no problems sticking to a vegan diet? Bob: Well...eating out is pretty difficult. Ned: Then you'll be happy to know mom is letting Kate cook vegan dishes at the diner. Bob: Mom giving up control of the kitchen? How's that working out? Kate: When do I get to start cussin' and throwing things? Flo: When you get yawr own TV show, deah. Ned: Let's just say it's still a work in progress... Bob: That bad, eh?

You can run your hands through your hair, then touch as many food items as you can like that Brit anytime you like, Kate.

Thirdguy, since this is Offshore Flo’s diner, remebar it’s on a pier… I suppose it could be a nice steaming pile of kelp….Yum….But with a little Mrs. Dash…..Not bad…

Thank you so much for adding a new food goal to my life! Golden Currants! Also, by accidental association, pink currants and buffalo currants. I love white especially and red currants reasonably (black ones not much, only in some biscuits.)
I mean, I’m pretty much into trying every fruit anyway – I’ve had some rare ones from endangered plants, even – but first I have to know they exist or be offered them.
Thank you :)

A desire to cuss and throw things? There must be a bit of Danae in sister Kate.

Thank you for your informative post. You forgot Oregon Grape, the state shrub, though.

elliaana, oh, definitely….Yes she’s the good little girl. But she’s deep…..I couldn’t even guess what she could be capable of if she wanted to do something…I’d like to see more of her…My sister was a good girl, too…..And she got away with murder because of it……..

I’d like clarification on whether vegetarianism means you don’t eat meat, or it means you only eat plants. This is in light of the new thinking that there are more than just two “life kingdoms”, and fungus is in a different one. If you only eat plants, that means no more mushrooms..Or bread..Or beer.

Just scroll on if his posts go on for more than a paragraph. That’s what I do.

Radical concept: One size does not fit all. We humans are a strange bunch. We’ve spread all over the planet, filled a huge variety of ecological niches, adapted to all sorts of conditions of climate, activity, altitude, diet, etc., and yet we haven’t speciated. This means that we are all carrying a huge variety of genes, including a huge variety of genes governing how we process and utilize food. Could it be that some of us will thrive on meat, others on grains, still others on fruits and veggies, some on dairy and fish, etc.? And that there is no miraculous “super-diet” that will make us all live forever?
Nah.

I watch a lot of the cooking shows on the Food Channel for ideas that I can adapt to my limits (pre-diabetic, among other issues). So far, the only chef I’ve seen who throws things is Robert Irvine, so I guess I’m missing the TV chef reference that Kate is making. Who is she talking about?

I really don’t like over long posts. Have even edited mine to be shorter. (when I rant)Todays was over long. But it was broken up into segments and paragraphs. Which made it easier to read. A lot easier to read. Good list of edibles.
