When it gets sufficiently cold (-20F or colder), boiling hot water will immediately vaporize with a hissing sound when thrown into the air. Iâd always toss the water heavenward, and nothing but a vapor cloud remained. I was somewhat disappointed that no little frozen drops of water fell to the Earth, though gratified at the same time.

Housecats are not solitary by nature. Itâs a lifestyle that we impose on them. Leave a bunch of cats alone, just putting out food, and theyâll form a society much like lion prides.
We think theyâre solitary because, unlike dogs, they are smart enough to recognize that humans are a different species and hence canât be members of cat society. (Not that theyâre particularly tender towards their own family members.) Did we tame them or did they tame us?

@DragonT and @ajr58To post pictures, you need to: 1) Have the URL (web address) to the picture, if itâs already on the web. If not, you will need to upload it to a service such as imgur.com.2) Use HTML code to insert it here. So, suppose you want to insert todayâs strip. 1) Right-click on the strip (control-click if you only have one mouse button) and select the command called something like âCopy Image URLâ.
In this case the URL is:http://assets.amuniversal.com/919df3007ac80132bd0d005056a9545d 2) Type this in your comment: <img src="" width=350> </img>  350 is the width of the column here. You want to scale the picture so that it doesnât spill out. Now, paste the URL between the double quotes. The code will look like this: <img src=âhttp://assets.amuniversal.com/919df3007ac80132bd0d005056a9545dâ width=350> </img>  The resulting embedded image looks like this:

Then thereâs the old joke about the man throwing brown balls into the fire that let off a terrible odor ⊠frozen farts.
Ermine Notyours almost 10 years ago
Whoops, Iâve been setting the width at 350 and my browser automatically scales the picture. I guess not all browsers work that way.

A rule of thumb is, if your spit freezes before it hits the ground, the temp is -40 or lower. So it would have to be a lot colder than that for a sneeze to freeze on your face.

Years ago, we had a âwash basinâ [a wide pan on a wooden stand] on the back porch. We carried warm water from the kitchen stove to the basin then washed our hands or face then dried off with the towel hanging nearby. My brother used to imagine, âWhat if you went out to wash your face when it was very cold outside, accidentally got soap in your eyes and screwed your face up in pain then while you were feeling around for the towel to wipe the soap out of your eyes, your face it would freeze that way.â

Amazing to realize that from Wattersonâs simple notion, back when this strip was first published, the whole new industry of 3D printing has been developed!
