Should have skipped the fancy restaurant and gone someplace more casual and try again another day. Although I can see being put out by all the time it probably took her to get ready going to waste. Another reason not to wear makeup or have fussy hair! As if I need another one…

After having to put up with women wearing stretch pants, and stirrup pants and those awful clown looking jump suits a decade ago, maybe a guy wearing sweat pants ought to be given a break.

Joe should have tucked in the drawstrings and CERTAINLY should have ironed a crease in each leg. She might have gone along with it then …

Women will accommodate a little goofy if you make an effort.

somebodyshort, I do too (yoga pants) but I’m a theatre teacher working on a dusty stage and constantly moving. :)

The easiest fix would have been buying some new ones…but if he’s like most guys (and a lot of gals), he probably waited till the last minute to get dressed and ran out of time.

If I was Victoria, I woulda been a little ‘harumphed’ espec if I’d been looking forward to dinner out, but would have suggested chilling at home. I usually don’t care much about other people’s clothing… but sweats with the string… that’s a weeeee bit much for a nice restaurant.

If he didn’t have time to go to a store he could have just got some scissors and cut a big slot in the back of his slacks (where his coat would hide it).

Some of you anti-Victoria people seem to think that she dumped him or he dumped her. I don’t know where you got that from. He’s just in the dog house for now.

Victoria is great, and the comic wouldn’t be funny if she just accepted it.

I’m guessing you guys who are scared of Victoria haven’t been to a really nice restaurant. There’s a chance they wouldn’t even seat Joe if he walked in wearing sweatpants. I don’t know if it’s true anymore, but it used to be that the fussier restaurants had sport coats to loan to men who didn’t realize there was a dress code. I don’t think they have loaner pants, though ;). So it might not be all Victoria over-reacting. Though if it were me, I wouldn’t have canceled the date; we’d just go someplace casual. But there’s no punchline in that outcome, no funny.

By the way, why are you guys so threatened by Victoria? You don’t say a peep when Danae cops an attitude but you realize that Danae is going to grow up to be very much like Victoria, right?

Joe is in a bar having a drink - looks like iced tea to me though. :-) And for a bar, he is way overdressed in a sports jacket.

The other character, once again, is Bob, Joe’s brother. And worst-selling author of “Mary Trotter” (or whatever variant he decided on) “and the Cauldron of Cash”.

    Oh, and also a lawyer.

My BF was partial to polyester suits (not a great look) but like Joe, at least wore good shirts and a nice tie. On the other hand another guy who wears jeans on a date when I’m all dressed up (even when we were just in our late 30’s) is entirely declasse (unacceptable).
