Dad: Well, Tia Carmen spent all day pointing out blotches and stains on the walls. Baldo: Sounds like we need to do some painting, huh? Dad: No... Dad: She just had to clean her eyeglasses.
How often much one go to the eye doctor just for a check up even when you think your eyes as well as glasses are fine? This question coming from someone who wears glasses.
For me about 8 years between visits. Ticks the docs off a bit, but if I don’t have issues seeing then I am not lining their pockets just the give them or their kids a boost.
I base my checkups on past history: my eyesight has changed only a slight bit during the last 15 years or so. So, I go for an eye exam about every two years. Usually there is a slight change in the prescription and I get new glasses. The eye exam is important not only to make sure that glasses are correct, but to make sure that things like glaucoma and other eye problems aren’t starting.
It depends on your age. Past 50 or so, you should have your eyes looked at by an ophthalmologist once a year, for early signs of cataracts, glaucoma, for retinal changes. (This is especially true if you’re a smoker.) These things can sneak up on you, but they’re manageable if they’re caught early…and devastating if they’re not.

Transient cataracts is how one eye doctor described my dirty glasses.

I agree on that one Serigo. When was the last time she took her glasses off?
