Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Quick, before the FCC goes all ânet neutralityâ on you. (We wouldnât want the person who downloads seven movies a day to have to pay more than someone who checks email once a day. Or to have the movie-watcher have the option of paying more for faster downloads.)
Electricity neutrality: your electric provider canât mess about with your electricity.Net neutrality: Your internet service provider canât decide not to let you visit gocomics.Perhaps a bit more complex than what I can say: The Federal Communications Commission today voted to enforce net neutrality rules that prevent Internet providersâincluding cellular carriersâfrom blocking or throttling traffic or giving priority to Web services in exchange for payment.
âIâm not sure you quite understand what ânet neutralityâ really would be, but then, Congress does not either.â.Flat rate per time period for all the data desired is one way many call it. That is definitely the way pschearer was using it. If it cost a certain amount to provide service at the highest possible speed, that cost would be spread out among all users, even the ones who could have still used 1200 baud modems for their text only applications just the same as those who watch videos nonstop throughout the time period..net neu·tral·i·tynounthe principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites...It occurs to me that the term will only mean whatever Congress decides to make it mean. So it would not be that they donât understand, just that they are stilly counting up bribes er, constituentsâ feelings about the matter.
and then there is the thought about how to charge for usage if at all. I have AT$T MiFi with a flat rate for data up to 5 gigs per month and then $10/gig above that. I have devices which can use up that much data in a very short time.If everybody paid a flat $10/gig for all usage, those who used a gig per year would pay less than those who used 12 gig per second, but that would be neutral.

Edit: The issue is more complex than I can say, therefore a quote from the linked article.
