They still have another air horn machine gun to try? Lena is Plan B? What happened to Vitamin? I hope he hasn’t taken a heart attack! Even more suspense when I thought it would be settled at this point.

Have the writers eliminated long time character Vitamin Flintheart?

The Nitrate’s are becoming the most heartless and cruel killers ever to be seen in the Dick Tracy comic strip! They prey on the vanity of old actors with their film frauds. They don’t hesitate to kill when somebody gets too close to the truth. And to top it off, they feed the remains to Lena. Man, when these two psychopaths reach the end of the road, we will be demanding their demise!

Looks like a couple of bullets grazed Vitamin’s arm.

Sorry for all the short comments. I keep noticing more things. Vitamin clearly does want to kill both of them. This doesn’t look good at all.

Late last night I promised to say why possession of Dick Tracy comics in Canada is an indictable offence carrying a penalty of a two year jail term. I discovered this yesterday while trying to find examples of newspapers that carry the strip.

Some background is that the Supreme Court of Canada found (last year?) that Canada’s prostitution laws were unconstitutional. According to a senator interviewed by the Ottawa Citizen newspaper the goverment’s new prostitution bill, passed last fall, carried over some outdated provisions from the 1950s.

Back in the 1950s, E. Davie Fulton (a former minister of justice) introduced a bill that outlawed crime comics as being against the morals of children. It passed unanimously. When they devised the prostitution bill, they put the provisions to outlaw prostitution in the section of the Criminal Code that deals with public morals, and repeated “crime comics” in each one of these sections. Doesn’t it seem bizarre that when somebody reads the Criminal Code (they will) see it’s illegal to have a Dick Tracy comic book in the same provision that prostitution is in? This is for AnyFace, Thanks for the Shadow link. I haveShadow radio shows on 60 minute cassettes (30 on each side). I am not sure of the exact number but only about athird of the shows are available. I have 80 cassettes with2 shows on each one for a total of 160 shows. It took a whilebut they are in chronological order with date and title!

I’m disgusted just enough to comment, VITAMIN MUST LIVE! Grrrrrr.

A quick shout-out to Shelley, Kandikane’s wavy word-balloon pointer in panel three really adds to the sense of poignancy, despair and potential heartbreak.

Also, been meaning to mention for awhile that Mike seems to have compressed Blowtop’s catch phrase from “Woo! Gosh!” into a single utterance of “Woo Gosh!”

This is what escalation can do. More, faster and flagrantly out in the open. They can get sloppy very fast. And start killing many people before they are stopped dead.____________________

Wonder if the Nitrates will be wrung through the same sort of horrific wringer that Flattop Jr. was prior to his demise.

Why do I have the feeling that all of these story lines will end up with Dick Tracy briefing the National Guard, which will be called in to restore order?

I have a few choice words, but I cannot say them here in a public strip, and I prefer to keep writing. But what I’m thinking would not be pretty, and my actions against these two would be swift, justifiable, and ugly.

Very interesting post about those Canadian laws. They seem to have arisen from the same mentality that got ECs William Gaines called before HUAC, and eventually put the magazines, save MAD out of business. Other countries can be dumb too it appears.

Yep. Sheesh! Canada, yet. But it’s a relatively old law, and I wonder if it’s really enforced?

I think it is time for another reappearance by Vista Bill. I hope there is a canister lying there. With her Vitamin lying unconscious and wounded, and with adrenaline rushing, she can easily lift a 100 lb canister and make Lena understand that she does not really like fresh meat.

Vista Bill is riding from the sunset to save the day. It is not bad either if it is just in the form of a canister.

It’s funny – a few days ago, we were cheering Sprocket for refusing Stiletta’s offer.

I guess that means Batman comics aren’t allowed in Canada. I wonder what they’d do if I snuck in the latest “The Dynamic Duo takes on The Joker” in my luggage? The Joker, Penguin, and Riddler were deeply embedded in crime.

And I love how over and over again, we have politicians passing laws requiring our personal sex lives adhere to THEIR religious beliefs (supposedly)….only to have them exposed later doing far more tawdry stuff, like “B____ Boy” just now here in the states….

Hi, Neil Wick. Thank you very much for your help yesterday. I discovered that the Reading Eagle out of Pennsylvania has Dick Tracy, but I couldn’t seem to find out about any other papers that carry the strip. I really appreciate your help with this.

I would hope that Lena Hyena is not hungry, having enjoyed that steak just before the surprising demise of Stiletta Flattop.Now I worry for beloved veteran thespian Vitamin Flintheart. He appears to be unconscious, sprawled atop his Sweet Thing, Kandikane Lane, who may be unscathed, as far as we can tell (today). His jacket is torn, hinting that his flesh also may be torn by the burst from the Wonder Car’s minigun before it jammed. I would hate it if Vitamin were dead. No justice too harsh for the Nitrates if Flintheart dies!

Archie just bought the farm, too, if I remember correctly.

Sad to hear that Canada is coming closer to the USA’s Christian based backwards dangerous over lawed system.

Well, the prime minister and is from Alberta, arguably Canada’s bible belt. The PM has also been accused of being “too American.”
