I think it would be fascinating if Dez and Luann became good friends. Both seem to share an outlook on life that accepts the idea that fun can be good, that all must not be justified and planned for every second of every day.-Bernice has much for in common with Gunther than she has with Luann, especially since Gunther has become such a grump. Those two should end up together and they can spend their days dishing out sarcasm in the general direction of Luann and Mr. Grey…

Oh, Dez, you and your (slightly) unannounced approximate half-minute hugs.

I think I"m going to like this Dez. She’s eccentric in a sweet sort of way and is definitely going to liven things up!!!

Think Luann will have a baby weasel?

I think what’s coming out of Luann’s mouth is the last drop of saliva she had before Dez squeezed it out of her.

I’m wondering why we put up with all those odd “college-types” that dropped stuff off for Dez, only to have them disappear. What what was in the bag? How does she know these eclectic people? There could be some interesting storylines to pay us for putting up with them for a couple weeks.

Wonder if Dez is counting because of reports that 20-second (minimum) hugs are supposed to strengthen the immune system.

Luann is looking a little thin.

If you have to encapsulate someone, that’s not a sincere hug.

If I was chosing a friend and had to decided between shrewish nag and all-around bitter pill Benrice and Dez with her half minute hugs and weird menagrie of friends, I would go with Dez!

how come I never noticed “Eyebrows on top of her hair and not on her face”

Since Dez is from NYC, is this how Lu’s parents allow her to go with Quill, as long as she stays with Dez.. Dez could show her around NYC while quill is interning.

I wonder if Dez would like a trip to New York?

Dez doesn’t understand what a hug is. It is TWO people embracing each other, not one pinning down the arms of the other and forcing yourself on them. I want to see someone stand up to Dez and tell her to stop it.

Dave – thank you for your public service announcement. It’s a shame you weren’t able to issue this warning to those movie goers at “Meet the Fockers” who had difficulty accepting Dustin Hoffman’s propensity to hug without warning. Even crusty Rob’t DeNiro learned to accept it, though.

anecdote time:

I personally met the outgoing, charming and lovely Betty Evans two years ago at the Reuben Awards weekend in Pittsburgh. The lady would ave nothing to do with handshakes, it was hug hug kiss kiss. I told her she had twenty minutes to stop this behavior or else. Not to be outdone MY wife laid the same on Greg. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.This year Karen will be in attendance with Greg and Betty. This means war. Though outnumbered, we shall fight the good fight. Wish me well.

The band is now worn by Dez, the lady with the yak fur wig.

How does one ‘set herself up for sarcasm’ when all she is doing is telling someone she (mistakenly) thinks is a friend about some plans?-I continue to hope that Luann will find some people who actually enjoy her company and like her at Pitts Community College, and stop visiting someone who clearly does not like her.-And since Bernice the Bestower of sarcasm has such a low opinion of Luann, why does she continue to visit Luann at her home? Why not just stay in her dorm and hang out with those she considers to be superior to Luann, such as that guy who got drunk and fell asleep in her dorm room, or the girl who left bags of who-knows-what in her dorm room?-Bernice the Great never Bestowed sarcasm on those wonderful beings, so she should just spend all her non-study time with them.-And when she gets arrested with bags of who-knows-what, this time, Luann won’t be there to warn the police ahead of time that someone planted drugs on Bernice. -Aw, too bad. But Bern will have her brilliant sarcasm for company in jail.

1) Note how Bern brightens when Dez walks into the room (contrast with yesterday)2) Note both Dez and Gunther now have curly hair— are they a possible match? Dez could be a “mom” to him.3) When Dez starts talking of aromotherapy, her skydiving adventures, etc., Lu will see how pathetically mundane her NY trip is. Or not.

I hope you’re wrong. I think Luann deserves a friend who likes her.

I have to love the “spit take” Lu does upon being “hugged.”

Will be interesting to see if Dez can impart some wisdom into Lu and help her see the way ahead.

28 Seconds of Dez-hug could change Luann forever, in more possible ways than one….

“Dez is not a real person, therefore she can’t be insulted.”

People who have dreads are real people however, and that’s insulting.

“You’re going to grab them from the side, pin their arms down, and hug them so hard they spit? And you’re going to do this for 28 seconds straight? If so, please get it on video.”
