Probably one of the biggest “OH, OH”s in the history of this strip! Also want to say that it was good to see an avenger09 comment here, yesterday! That deserves a “Wahoo”!
Well, looks like Doubleup won the race. won the race. At least, so far. This is cetainly a talk that Jimmy has been trying to avoid, but he’s cornered now.
It looks like Mr. Ed is on the board to win, place, or show.
Axelrod has an interesting choice ofshirt. I see he has a bikini babe calendar on the inside of his office door, too. It looks like Axelrod is not going to die at the hands of Jimmy, because Jimmy likes to do his killing in private.
Do you suppose that guy in the overalls is a client? It almost seems like he’s opening the door to let Jimmy in, but maybe he was on his way out.
Thanks to everyone who contributed information about Jackson Beck yesterday. In case it hadn’t been mentioned. the late Mr. Beck – Fittingly enough – contributed to Woody Allen’s Radio Days as well.
Also from yesterday, I agree with Chris Sherlock that the narration could be read in the voice of “Batman” producer William Dozier to comparable effect.
Good to see Av09 helped us out! I think that car was just a little over the top not to comment. Now for today’s, Jimmy’s definitely got the Glock (or whatever), so the bullwhip is outgunned. We’ll see. Tracy’s appearance on the scene might scramble up the mix, though! Blaze, sitting outside, would be wise to hit the trail if she wants to stay clean.
My, my! Isn’t this convenient?Somehow, DoubleUp, with his whip this time, got into the inner office without Axelrod noticing—or is Axelrod playing Jimmy, having let DoubleUp in himself? This could get very messy, unless Tracy and Sam show up almost at once….
Good morning Tracy fans and, of course, ‘the Magnificent Gweedo’. Jimmy is about to get the worst whipping of his life!__________Have a beautiful day my friends.
So I’m assuming that that the guy in the overalls is a younger, heavier version of Slim and his “brother” from the other OTB places – upon zooming in, he appears to have a mustache similar to the other two (plus Tommy O’Connor from the 1924 job), only darker. Probably a relative :)
Timmy, a pistol bullet like the semi-auto that Jimmy packs travels right at or a little faster than Mach 1. A high-powered rifle bullet, on the other hand, travels at 4-5 times Mach 1.
That Hand on the Whip . . . like a Hand resting - on the ‘ready’. on a Pistol but . . .Portending a calamitous event about to occur ! ?
And the face shadows cast in panel 2 also foretell of a threatening meeting in that inner office.
Avenger09 critiqued panel 1 yesterday, on minor technical grounds yet I loved the ambiance of it - which seemed to so ‘effectively’. CAPTURE the essence of the rotund Jimmy Choo Shooz - the one I think; the Writer ‘intended’ ! ? More meaningful than the ‘perceived’ (tiny?) discrepancies
But good to see Avenger09 back or rather SDM (aka Mattie).Guess morrow, can now breath a sigh of relief ?
One thing I like about the character of Jimmy Choo Shooz is that he looks like an ordinary person – he’s fat, balding, and working his way through another cigar. He looks like somebody you might actually see walking down the street, and if you did, you wouldn’t notice him. Most of the bad guys are so distinctive in appearance, you’d take one look and never forget them, and most are intimidating. Not Jimmy.
Doubleup finished with his urgent phone callNo way he could stay he would take a big fallThis wasn’t the time to respond with his whipThe smartest move was to heed Blazes tipOutta here fast they all had to scramBut Jimmy the whale had a different escape planThe door he’d take was back in the rearHe hoped it’d help him to quickly disappearThe gun in his waist would confirm his main pointThat nobody bosses Jimmy when he’s in one of his jointsDoubleup knew there was no time to play gamesIf Jimmy bellied up it was he Bigg would blameSo faster than Superman to his feet did he standAnd forcibly moved Jimmys pop gun from his hand.

I’m sort of surprised no one has mentioned his long lost cousin, Double Entendre.
Hate to think what HE (or she) does?

You want Beetlejuice in the fray? He might be competition for Abner.
