Looks like BB-Eyes and Doubleup are in the clear, but (in Doubleup’s estimination), is this Blaze’s 2nd strike? He looks pretty smug sitting there with his whip.
Blaze was pleased to hear the praiseThe job was done her spirits were raisedMr Bigg shared happy newsThe gold was theirs, goodbye to ShoozThe only thing that caused regretWas knowing Doubleup wasn’t free as of yetTo her surprise Biggy made it clearThat Doubleup presence was extremely nearThat’s great she thought she could begin the taskOf helping BB wear a patchPerhaps one day we’ll all laugh and tell jokesWithout the danger of the second hand smokeThat BB always blows in my faceHe better quit or he’ll soon be erased.
I guess that for some of you that were wondering, we now know that apparently none of the gold was lost in the lake, & is now in the possession of Mr. Bigg & the Blackhearts.
For the original 1924 Robbery — my crystal ball says among the foundations of Ted Tellum’s former lakeside house we’ll find traces of that robbery gone awry.
Good morning Tracy fans.-——-Avenger09, keep those fine poems a coming.-——-I will be having eye surgery to remove scar tissue from the retina of my left eye. Prayers and best wishes are appreciated.-——Have a great day my friends.
Is the Mr Bribery rumor real? That hand angle and rose are Bribery’s trademarks (well, and the shrunked heads of his enemies, yet to be seen). Mr Bigg’s flouting of the law seems like a mature Bribery, a Rouges Gallery for the ages.
Bribery was always giving folks money, too…though usually stolen from their own wallet. A slight variation now that Mr B has a billion dollars? The reason Ms Chin Chillar had a chilly reception to her package?
Good luck Starman1948. Concerning Blaze, it has crossed my mind more than once that she may be an undercover cop….hence the no record and her uneasiness around the “baddies”.
Good morning fellow DT fans!Good luck with your surgery, Starman1948.Nice poetry Avenger09.Please take your drones away, Gweedo. There’s nothing to see here!
I think that…oddly enough… Doubleup is the only one of the gang that Blaze feels comfortable enough with to let her guard down for a while. this COULD be her downfall but I can see her if things take a turn for the worse which we KNOW they will… turning states evidence against mr bigg and the blackhearts since it would be only her “firs offense” and she’d probably get a deal like that offered to her..rat out the others and you get probation with record expunged after a year
Many thanks to NEIL WICK for his input yesterday (and everyone else too) I put the link to that Wikipedia page on my desktop so I can check it out at my leisure
Now I finally think I understand about the 1924 gold. The “third tunnel” used to move the gold was never found (until Mole’s identification of it on May 3), but the gold itself (apparently) was. However, that really was never made clear in the strip.
Thanks everyone for your kind, encouraging words (yours too David, I know you used invisible ink! LOL!!)On a serious note please keep my brother in law George in your thoughts and prayers. He was diagnosed with liver cancer and is currently too weak for chemotherapy. My wife (she’s his health care proxy) and I are meeting on Thursday with his doctors to discuss a plan of action. We’re trusting God for a miracle.
I can truly understand Blaze’s feelings about “Mr. Big.” It isn’t easy for one such as us to feel comfortable around males, simply because most have a domineering complex. (I’m not speaking of any man here of course. :). “That woman is bi/pan/lesbian? Lets turn her around to the dark side” as the thoughts go.
I must admit however, I am certainly surprised that Doubleup, is one, Blaze can relax a bit around. This indicates there is far more to Doubleup, than being a mere thug. Could he even be gay? I know I’m most comfortable around the gay male community. Yes I’ve dated men but it takes awhile for them to fully gain my trust.
I will give my congratulations to Team Tracy once again for their portrayal of characters. I certainly can learn from this team for my own writing.
@Neil Wick, avenger09, tsull2121, davidf42, NightShade09, Johnathan K, blunebottle, Kantuck Nadie Nata-Akon, and Ray Toler: the surgery went well. I have a large patch on my eye so I can’t wear my glasses. Please ignore any typos. I took a pain pill a short while ago. The doctor will remove the patch tomorrow morning. It woll be several months before my vision will be normal. Thanks for your prayers and best wishes, my friends. Have a great day.
Best wishes and prayers for your eye surgery, Starman1948.
Blaze is uncomfortable with authority over her (which may somehow relate to her afternoon profession as a dominatrix); on the other had, she seemed to relate well to DoubleUp when they were on the job together as more or less co-equal partners. DoubleUp’s hard expression in panel 3 is just his normal appearance, I think, rather than any suggestion of a grudge against Blaze Rize….
@John Russell: It is hard not to judge, but Jesus said we would know them by their fruit. You are a good person and I am glad to call you my friend. Have a great day.
Never Noticed Anything “unusual” about her during that visit to Notta ?Perhaps you’ve been looking at the wrong side of the Coin, and seeing Tails, as with Heads up, she pulled at her bow-tie, and later “counsel” herself, on her poor emotional control as she left the Apartment, As I recall it, she said: “Shhh GET A GRIP Blaze !*” ?
Hardly think, in a Kiddies Comic strip, the Authors can be more explicit beyond that ? So,‘Broad Hint’ . . . then, it’s Left to your ‘Imagination’ !
Can’t expect her to ‘Look Out’ of the strip, at the readers … and make a “Confession” ? Can you ?
Perhaps Mike ‘suspected’, that a few readers hadn’t ‘got’ the message’, SO . . . he then seemed to rub our Noses in It . . . (see below) . . .
I haven’t met ‘too many’ women that confess to having Whips, and/ or feel, a need to make a ‘distinction’ when discussing it, like it’s between Business and Pleasure ! ??
Perhaps you have a more “enlightened” perspective, on what Mike seemed to “labour” - in telling US ? Perhaps I’m just under-informed ? ? ?
Wow John Russell, I hope you responded to my post accidentally or I am interpreting it wrong. I intended no slights to anyone here or elsewhere…I meant that Tracy fans tend to be more sturdy than the average and that was a good thing, like Dick Tracy has a positive spin to one’s overall life. Apologies if that was taken a wrong way.
Thank you SYD, 1978 has to be one of the best years of the strip. The opening sequence of AngelTop (“WHO is this”), the Flattop death recreation, Haf-and-Haf, Big Boy’s contract, then the Iceman showdown and snitched beatdown. That punch was awesome. Can’t believe that was all in single year. 74-76 were awesome, then 77 was kinda lame. Then, BANG!
Wow, that’s some character list!I thought Chet Gould retired in the early 70’s, and Johnny Adonis and Lee Ebony entered the action in the mid-70’s.I do like Max Allen Collins’ tribute to Mickey Spillane, Ida Jury.. “I, The Jury” was Spillane’s first published novel.
Starman1948: Sounds like you underwent a similar procedure to what my late father had done when he developed a tear in his retina – They essentially drained the ocular fluid, smoothed the retina, then filled the eye with pressurized gas of some sort, till the fluid refilled naturally.
[It took a few weeks at least.]
You’re a braver, better, and far more positive-minded and serene soul than most.
Some of us would be kicking and screaming after that.
@Night-Gaunt: I beklieve it is the same situation as your father had. The doctor mentioned a tear while he was operating on my eye. I will probably (over the next few weeks) spend a goodly portion each day listening to Old Time radio programs instead of reading or watching tv. I’m headed to bed shortly while the pain pill is still working.
@AnyFace: thank you for the compliment about being braver, etc. My faith in God and the prayers and good wishes of friends like you help me to be that way. God Bless You and My Other Go Comics Friends.
said: “and we may be the last generation if a new wave doesn’t catch on … with S. & C. being it’s last authors.”According to the page where the comics are listed A – Z, Dick Tracy currently has 33911 subscribers. Not as many as Garfield, but still an impressive number.
,,, and we may be the last generation if a new wave doesn’t catch on …
I hope that isn’t the case but it could happen if this becomes too much of a nostalgia strip. I know that people get excited when characters from the past reappear, but that shouldn’t be everything. Apparently, plans for 2016 are for almost all new villains in the strip. I’m happy about that.
The Dick Tracy movie turned 25 yesterday. I was a little unhappy at the time that it was set in the 1930s. The strip has to stay up-to-date to stay relevant. I think it’s well on the way.
Regarding my comment,As for the crypt ac bills, we tapped into a neighbor’s wires for our electric power.Gweedo replied,Bill, the P.U.C. frowns on such actions.-—————————————————————————
What could we do, Gweedo. We had some old fashioned zombies walking a treadmill to generate electricity and we received complaints about overworking them. So we tapped into the count’s power since he wasn’t using the electricity.
