TV: A Philadelphia policeman shot himself and blamed imaginary black assailants. When asked why he blamed imaginary blacks, The policeman said, "because there were no Imaginary Mexicans around."

The scumbag cop is on suspension pending his dismissal, plus he will have to re-imburse the city for the cost of the manhunt for the non-existent assailants.
What I don’t understand is how he is not facing criminal charges. Nobody seems to know his motive, but it does seem bizarre, so I wonder if there isn’t a psychiatric issue.

^Could be. There was an assistant principal at a nearby school who stabbed himself and claimed he was attacked by a student (unnamed). He was of course fired, arrested and placed under psychiatric care.
