Make that “the new abnormal.”Seriously, build a wall between the US and Canada? It’s time for random drug testing of the candidates. And competency testing, too.

Jim, my family can be called Frost Backs from Canada…..It’s lucky for us that they didn’t have a wall back in the 1890’s….I would have been left to live in a peaceful country, with great health care, a high standard of living, common sense politics, and all the pristine land you’d ever want…..Canadians are very friendly because the aren’t constantly afraid like most of Americans..Today’s Americans live in constant fear…But stoking that fear is how some people get votes….I won’t tell you who…Everybody knows anyway….

BrassOrchidRather had three documented proofs (as good reporters do). One was questionable (not forged), the other two genuine. QED, Rather must be blacklisted and the whole sorry scheme be repeated ad nauseum as fact. Old Smirky was the guilty one.

Won’t work. 2 months after the end of this election cycle, they’ll already be starting up the next one.-———————————————They don’t wait that long.As soon as the last election was over, John McCain was suddenly in front of every TV camera in DC. He once skipped a meeting to complain to reporters about Democrats not releasing information, when the meeting he skipped was to address just that. He was the unofficial front runner for quite a while, and I was sure he was going to run for president, but his age (he’s 79) became obvious.

The new normal in America for some time has been wall building: physical, political, psychological, social, and intellectual, xenophobia: fear of strangers, “strange” ideas, uncomfortable facts that don’t meet preconceived or propaganda inspired notions, or anything outside the comfort zone of hegemony is to be feared, and/or hated.

Or Gore saying he created the internet is another example.-——————————————Nope. Never did. Gore was the head of a Senate committee which voted to open the internet to the public. Before that it was only for universities and the military. He didn’t father it; he just delivered the baby and signed the Birth Certificate.

His actual words were in reference to his actions in congressional actions to fund the digital infrastructure for the internet. The relevant quote is:“I took the initiative in creating the internet.”Nobody could possibly mistake that for Gore inventing the internet unless it was done with a troll-like malice. It is just everyday resume enhancement. And, in other news:“In the original September 8, 2004 story, Rather and his news producers presented documents they claimed “proved” that George W. Bush went AWOL from the Guard in the 1970s. It wasn’t long before the veracity of the documents became an issue, as typography experts began to realize that the lettering used on the documents would not have been used on documents in the 1970s.”If there were two other supporting documents, they were never produced. You would think that a great journalist would produce the documentation that supported his story. I can’t imagine why he did not.Swiftboat veterans? When your own crew, with whom you served, comes forth to tarnish your reputation, they may have a reason. We may presume dark money to preserve our injured egos.Death Panels:Well, that’s just silly. Everybody knows that they are appropriate care panels. If you are just too old to benefit from care, or your condition is so poor that your quality of life would not be measurably improved by care, then it may be time for you to just get a pain killer and ride down to oblivion. You can hardly call that a death panel. Why, the very suggestion is ridiculous.Birthers:Well, heck. They don’t give away passports without documentation. If people are so stupid as to think that this straw will float them, hide the documents and let them chew up something stupid rather than having them looking into substantive topics. But still… “Look over there!” is hardly an answer to the question of why anybody should believe this political hit piece by a biased press, or why anybody should continue to believe it when it has been brought to their attention that it is incorrect and the actual quotes, and even videos, are freely available for their research. It’s almost as if the facts are secondary then, and it is more about the Home Team scoring a touchdown in the seventh inning.

First, the random part is out, it should be mandatory along with a psychological evaluation. They want mental tests for gun purchases now… Shouldn’t that extend to the people making our decisions?

Second, the election cycle appears to be by definition, never ending.

What Europe is experiencing is called a refugee crisis, not an illegal immigrant problem. Refugees are people in flight from war or certain death, and they are seeking asylum. They are much more willing to do things like learn the language of their new land.

Illegal aliens are mainly entering a country to earn money (to support those at home, or to buy land at home, or whatever.) While their economic situation in their home country might be terrible, they are much less likely to be shot because two armies are at war in their backyard, or because they follow an unpopular religion or what.

Your point was that the popular press manipulates people who are too lazy to check things out for themselves even when they literally have the entire internet available at their fingertips and instead just rely on the same news sources who think that they are so stupid that they won’t bother to check on the veracity of anything they say?-Well… you aren’t going to be very popular with that attitude!
