I’m reminded of the Hertz Rent-a-Car commercials from the ’70s that featured O. J. Simpson running through the airport. Of course that was before he was running from the police.
For about five years, I was working at various locations, flying out on Sunday and back on Fridays. I made a decision during that time; never to run for a plane. I got sick of the scheduling idiocy that put me in a crunch between connections. If I didn’t make it, fine.I did miss one plane. They had closed the door and were preparing to pull away from the gate – so that they could go sit out on the runway for 20 minutes. Gotta keep those on-time departure stats up, you know.
Gotta agree with cerabooge. It’s the reason I stopped flying into Dallas from San Jose, CA. I had run my butt off trying to get to the gate for my flight back to San Jose, but was told the plane was pulling away from the gate too !While standing at the window, I’d noticed the plane had not moved, so I went back to the check-in desk and asked why I could not be allowed to board? The gal told me to go ask her supervisor in which I did and demanded that I be allowed to get on that plane. If not, I’d have to sleep in that damned airport all night ’til 6 a.m. for the next flight to San Jose. That nice lady went to the end of the tunnel, used the two-way to the pilot and TOLD him he had one more passenger. I hugged that lady with all my might and thanked her ’til I thought she was going to cry !
OJ’s run from the police was very slow. His acquital was very expensive. I wish he had counted the cost of killing before the act. I liked his characters in the movies.

The Terminal was an interesting Tom Hanks film; if you haven’t seen it, I suggest you do…

Had to Google “terminal velocity” to see what it really was! Never heard of it before this.

Some terminals you sprint through; others you gather dust watching other people sprinting through.
