Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for September 26, 2015
Transcript:
Ned: How do you explain his lead in the polls? Man in blue: Media attention. Voice from out of frame: It's not just a lead...it's a huge lead! HUGE!! That's because I'm the real deal! I'm a straight-talker, saying what I really think! People want that! They love it...men, women, lesser races...especially chicks! Blond chicks with big gazoombas! Huge gazoom...um...wait...Did I just say that out loud? Man in blue: Yes, and you just went up in the polls. Ned: Either I've had too much to drink, or not enough.

With this yearās Republican crop, you should switch to absinthe. Lotsa and lotsa absinthe.
LEOKEV over 9 years ago
No, Scratchy18, heās in the lead because people would rather be entertained than to exercise critical thinking. The best candidates for both parties would never run.

You know, I may be off base here, but I donāt think Wiley Miller thinks very highly of one particular candidate.I donāt necessarily disagree with him, however, I would like to see his take on the other circus show.

@whiteheronI agree. If anyone is ripe for major parody, itās Hillary. Heāll never touch her, though.

I think this commentary is more about what makes someone like Trump popular. Iāve watched him many times, and he says nothing substantive ā aside from insisting heās going to force Mexico to build a wall to our specifications and that heāll make them like it ā but without giving a single detail. BUT Trump says whatever he feels like saying, regardless of whom he insults or hurts, heās supremely self-confident, and heās a well-known bully. THATāS what people like about him ā and that, I believe, is what Wiley is fascinated with. Itās not the content of his policy ā because they donāt care what his policy is ā itās the āstrong manā image he portrays.

Men are āblondā. Women, whether they have huge gazoombas or not, are āblondeā. Blame the French, but get it right or you look like a bigger idiot than anyone.

Where does Fox get the ratings for their āpollsā? Make them up? No, that takes brains. The candidatesā PR of course.

Is he coarse? Yep.
But he doesnāt seem to be a smooth-talking, charming, traitorous liar.

Elections: The only job interview where the best qualified candidates have absolutely no desire for the job nor the interview process.

Come on, can we go back to regular comics, please? I am so sick of these stupid political arcs.

Freedom of speech, freedom of the press. . . if the candidates say it, the press can report it/comment on it. . .

Possibly whatās happening with little Donnie is that people are taking the advice of legendary pundit Mike Royko, to always lie to pollsters? Or could they WANT an adulterous dishonest deranged bigoted cowardly crybaby to be president?!

I think blond chicks with huge gazoombas have their own PAC now.

Donaldās hair is more authentic than he is. All heās doing is pandering to his base. Telling them just what they want to here and being careful not to contradict them, as we saw. Thatās why heāll never get over the 30% mark. The rest want to be pandered to in a more sophisticated manner.
3pibgorn9 over 9 years ago
still, pandered to, yes.

Bruce Wayne inherited great wealth and became āBatmanā. Donald Trump inherited great wealth and became something else that comes from a bat, proved in every speech he makes.
Wiley has identified part of the problem, his supporters have been drinking too much or too little, but itās PCP, not booze.
kaffekup over 9 years ago
Funniest thing Iāve heard in a while:āTrump says he sleeps with supermodels. Donāt tell him that, without his money, heād be sleeping with women who look like Kim Davis.ā

Drink up. It is likely to get much worse before it gets any better, and beer goggles can only help. I bet Howard Dean is looking better already. His only sin was enthusiasm. But you canāt change the past, and this thing is starting to look like it is already over.

The Trumpster is used to being in absolute control. Business allows for that. Prez Trump would have to compromise with others in Washington, and he hasnāt shown me that he could or would do that.-In a word: I bid one No Trump.

Not enough. Not NEARLY enough!

Okay, I see what you mean, and it makes sense. What puzzled me was why you only mentioned people concerned with progressive policies donāt care about local or regional election races, even though people on the other side of the political spectrum have shown to not care about such things, either.
