For those somewhat disappointed a couple days ago by how humble he seemed, here is Vitamin’s much-remembered ego! (And, after Popeye & Olive Oyl, Little Orphan Annie, Barney Google, Walt Wallet, Lum & Abner, etc…., Mr. Magoo shouldn’t be too much of a surprise! Love the tributes Team Tracy pays to the comic strips and characters of the past – most especially the constant tributes to Chester Gould’s old friends & foes!)
Is that steam rising from Rikki’s collar, Bill ?**-———————————————————————-.“Smoke and Mirrors”, Gweedo. She got hold of one of Abner’s smoke pellets and dropped it in her ‘top’..The Three Rs! Or is it, “Rip, Roaring, Raley”?
For what it’s worth, I’ve reviewed the 1951-53 volume of the IDW Dick Tracy reprints here: http://www.skjam.com/2015/11/04/comic-strip-review-chester-goulds-dick-tracy-volume-14-1951-1953/ If you trawl back, I have done some other Tracy-related reviews as well.
When I read of Vitamin appearing in a version of Magoo’s Christmas Carol, it thought, ‘how ridiculous. Vitamin doing an adaptation of a TV cartoon.’Now, learning Magoo himself is part of the Tracyverse, why, it’s all perfectly logical!
Between Mike and Joe (and Shelley and Shane and Jim) and the comments here, I haven’t had this much fun with the funnies since I was a kid. Thanks, all!
That was one of the coolest cartoons ever made. The whole gang was in it. Pruneface, Flattop, Mumbles, The Brow, The Mole, Itchy and Oodles. Are these writers cool or what?
I believe the current sequence to be a teaser for an upcoming Christmas story. Consider that Vitamin is performing in a Christmas play and his girlfriend’s name is Kandikane Lane.
Isn’t Vitamin a little TALL to be portraying Magoo ?
That thought occurred to me earlier today, but I think it’s the performance more than the look that’s important here. Anyway, who’s to say how tall Mr. Magoo really is. We only know how he’s been portrayed in the past.
There is talk lately about the next actor to play Jame Bond. Some people have suggested actors of different races, genders, or sexual orientations as possibilities, though it would obviously not follow the image of the original books. I suppose it’s good to keep an open mind.

Who is the guy on the monitor?
AnyFace about 9 years ago
And I’m hearing Tracy’s lines today as read by Everett Sloan.
AnyFace about 9 years ago
I’ve wondered if the background monitors are voice-activated, they often seem to display visuals relevant to the foreground conversation.
AnyFace about 9 years ago
The first time we see the monitor in the background today, it’s Magoo.
The second time, it’s “Squinty-Eyes!”

Monday’s strip has finally been colourised.

When Tracy says it was “Kept out of the newspapers,” he specifically meant kept out of the Comics Section.

Guess Mike’s Made the Dick Tracy/Magoo cross-over part of Continuity now :)
AnyFace about 9 years ago
Either that, or Tracy has been spinning things for so long, he’s having trouble separating Fact from Fictional Fiction.
AnyFace about 9 years ago
You really don’t want to cross Quincy Magoo …

Mr. Magoo officially part of Dick Tracy continuity?? At least with Popeye they were careful not to show him clearly or mention his name.

Tracy should know better than to wish an old Thespian “Good Luck!” He should say “Break a leg” whech means “Take many bows”

I’ve heard there really is a group in LA doing Magoo’s Christmas Carol live. There were some great songs in that.
