Never let your children out of your sight , especially in Canada. Bears and mountain lions, let alone human monsters, prowl the tundra and forests looking for easy targets.

My 8 year old son has no shame. Sometimes I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing.

There are a lot more dangers lurking in cities than there are in the woods!

If you’re worried, just have Dad go with him. He could probably use a potty break, too.

Don’t worry, Farley’s keeping an eye on him. Oh, wait, Farley’s doing the same thing Mike’s doing…

Funny! I remembered when we had longest trip in 1970’s, we headed up to Ritzville, WA. on North HWY 395 with no rest area, no gas station, no restaurants. My mother had been so patient with holding full of her bladder while she drove the car with my sisters, brother and me. She finally stopped and turned a little bit so no one would see her bending down and peeing without any mess by the opening passenager door as we watched and talked something else till she finished hers and then, we took off. Nowadays on North HWY 395, I noticed there were some of gas station, restaurants and perhaps the rest areas. Good grief! :-/

There is one of those unwritten laws (in England) that dictate that however lonely the road is, however long ago you last saw another vehicle going in either direction, and whatever time of day or night it is, the moment you hop out to, er, water the grass at the road verge, a car full of nuns/policewomen/ hen party females/retired librarians/coachload of schoolgirls, et c, will meander slowly past and get a really good view of your er, spraying apparatus. If you are lucky, it’s only nuns. (Those retired librarians can make some truly vicious comments).

The boy is aware of this natural law and is merely being prudent.

Parents teach us to be ashamed and then are upset when we are?

Wanting some degree of privacy for “personal business” seems to be quite natural even in toddlers. Or maybe they don’t want Mom to catch them and make them sit on the potty.

marvee - That depends on the personality of the individual. I’ve got one son who wants company while he’s “camping” on the toilet. The other son doesn’t even want me to see him without his shirt on most of the time.

My Mom claimed that is why we always had 4 door cars. She would pull over, and open both right doors….

Working in the field one day, far from any civilization, HAD TO GO. Standing by the right side of the car and flowing freely into the grass alongside the road, something moved to my left. A little rabbit zipped on down the road, as I thanked Mother Nature it wasn’t a snake. Pee my socks? I bleeep near peed the car when I jumped!
