Hmm. There may have been something down there for all the dust to fall into. Guess the Topsiders pulled the plug on Wally after all.

It is one thing to stand before the abyss…It is another thing to have it chasing you…

Longer legs are a definite advantage at this point.

Oh, I guess the Earthquake bomb uses a warhead similar to the Topsider pistols to evaporate a large portion of the ground under the surface and create a massive sinkhole.

It’s flat as a pancake everywhere you look. There’s noting but sand all around there. And now they’re being chased by a giant sinkhole. MY GAWD! THEY’RE IN FLORIDA!

Miss Mouse may be able to outrun anything, but not Wally – especially with baggage..

Kirbee’s height does give her the advantage in stride here…

“Shall I tell you how she’ll die, little cat?”By being buried in a sink hole and not having the desire to live to dig her way out of it?

They are collapsing the entire colony underground. This is Endtown’s fate if they are found.

I’m guessing earthquake bombs are used to take out subterranean colonies inhabited by mutants or large cave systems where colonies might form.

Seems a tad excessive… and why haven’t they been using these against the mutant strongholds?

Nice little homing function on the missile, zeroed right in on Clive. Good lesson learned, leave the plasticized brains alone.

I suspect Salen has got it, it was an Amesworth weapon after all, the initial shock is nothing compared to annihilating a huge subterranean volume and the subsequent collapse.

Anybody who thinks that there is a hole down there has never seen sand/dust liquefaction during an earthquake.

I can see Wally also maybe tossing Holly onto Kirbee in a last ditch attempt. Maybe Wally could get separated from the group. That is, IF Kirbee could indeed outrun a growing sinkhole with two people in her arms.Imagine Kirbee and an already frazzled Holly trying to work out a way in finding Wally.

Their world is actually hollow……they all live on the outer surface.Silly.The missile has caused a rip in realities.Instead of a vortex going up…..they are going down.“Down to the bottom, Hello…..is there anybody else here?…….It’s cold and I’m so lonely.Hello…..is there anybody else here???Hello….won’t you throw me down a life lineI’m so afraid of darknessAnd down here, its just like night time.OOOOHSS! are all around meHello, will you PLEASE SEND DOWN A LIFE LINE!!Down and there isn’t any hope for me.Unless this dream that seems so realIs just a fantasy.”The Point….Harry Nilsson

Ah, but good story telling comes from various forms of conflict and conflict tends to stress us sensitive readers, who have grown attached to the characters. Thus the fact that we feel stressed is evidence that Aaron has a great story on his hands

Frith Ra – Liquifaction doesn’t create holes, voids, or pits, the soil simply no longer can support a load on it and things sink into it. The pictures are of a sink hole of some sort, likely an Amesworth weapon created void.

Am I the only one who wondered how the narrative would move once the group left Unity for the wasteland? I’d thought that we might have a slack period for exposition, or character development, and maybe some surprises as they neared that mysterious object on the horizon. After all, what could happen to 5 characters surrounded by dust for miles? LOL Quite a lot, with Aaron driving. Great work. :-)
