Luckily, we readers are not physically present in Monty’s home, ‘cause we can’t unscrew and remove our noses, unlike E.B…..

The old rules on personal hygiene still work the best for me…1: Shower before you get sewn into your long johns for winter.2: Shower after you get cut out of them in the spring.

If it’s on the internet, it has to be true.

It’s not the showering that washes away all the good bacteria. It’s the expensive soaps we use.

Not showering may be good for the immune system, but it’s stinky and itchy and sticky.

Some guy has not showered or bathed for 12 years. He is supposedly coated in microbes. I’m sure he doesn’t have to worry about diseases as NO ONE GOES NEAR HIM!

As Weird Al pointed out, we are all covered with MICROSCOPIC BACTERIA!

There was a NYT article of a reporter that tried it— you can buy a “starter kit” of healthful bacteria and rough it. It takes a while but you are (relatively) stinkless and healthy. After all, the washing/deodorant obsession is a product of the early 20th century. Remember hearing of washable cuffs and collars? You just reused the shirt several times while washing the apt-to-get-dirty parts. Back when washing was an all-day affair.

Just consider that only a few hundred years ago people proudly went a whole lifetime without ever bathing. Since swimming was considered dangerous and unhealthy too there was no help from incidental immersion either.

Fancy soaps and deodorants , etc. are a bajillion dollar industry. Civilized people have a horror of offending. Truth is if a person showers every day ,or maybe even twice if needed, with ordinary soap, all the expensive stuff can be done without.

you shouldn’t shower every day, but you should STILL SHOWER. Personally I shower every other day, sometimes I’ll go 2 days if I don’t go out.

Actually, there are only a few places that actually produce odor. Wash those regularly (and PLEASE leave those anti-bacterials alone!!!), and take care of the rest as needed and you healthy and fresh.
