We look at and discuss the current strip but we also are doing the older strips as well as Aaron’s strips he did before Endtown where a lot of his characters originally appeared.
Well, when you start blasting away at each other with weapons that seems to disintegrate other folks with the slight side effect of poking big holes in reality till your world is little more than a leaky pasta strainer that can’t even strain pasta… yeah, things are a little weird.
I was wondering about the canned food in the hold bit, as the only food I saw on the Opabinia Queen was that feast that Aaron Marx set out. Then I remembered she was a salvage vessel, this ship may have salvaged some canned goods, or a food truck.
Plus, clearly neither Kirbee nor Wally is even thinking about her in this moment. Either they haven’t stopped to think about how her feelings might be different (which would be upsetting, especially from someone you love), or they just aren’t thinking about her in this moment at all (also upsetting, especially given all the turmoil she’s gone through in the past day or so).
I mean, they’re thinking “Ghost ships and dittos and mysterious water are kinda cool!” and she’s thinking “This is a world in which people eat their babies and force their friends to abandon helpless brains.”
I find myself wondering if the ship wants something from them. The Opabinia Queen had an artificially intelligent autopilot, I’m guessing that this ship has one and that it left Wally, Holly & Kirbee the water so that they would be healthy enough to do something for it. I wonder what it may want, a new Captain?
Their mutations include a psychological overlooking of their healing abilities. Maybe they’re conditioned to accept other weird stuff as normal and not give it a second thought.
Wally just said that he is “kinda OK” with looming death. So Holly may take that wrong and think he would be Kinda OK with Her death. Seems like she did a heroic effort to get as much back to normal as she can, but Wally is Not in touch with her feelings now that the crisis has somewhat past. If I was Kirbee or Wally I would make sure she was included in the conversation, but then Both of them are trying to decide what to do. I did a bit of reading about the Edmond Fitzgerald, and how they had not fond a body for a long time. I guess they found one 2 decades later, but what happened to the captain and crew?Very likely it is haunted. Maybe one of the ghosts wants to tell them something.Or it may be does have some rations. The lake has dried up or someone moved it. The ship, not the lake. Maybe heat came from the amesworth reaction.
“Things have become a little odd since the war…”.Understatement of the ages, in this strip..“Heh, if you are, we both are…”.I agree with Veteran above, a poor choice of words: Does both refer to Wally and Holly or Wally and Kirbee?.Of late, Holly has seemed to be more “baggage” than asset, though Aaron has recently tried to return her to a more sympathetic character by reminding us about her mental illness..On the other hand, given the situation they are in, mental illness is no asset..Concern: Is the current storyline turning into a soap opera?
That’s one problem with living in a crazy world full of danger and mystery. People can get so carried away with dealing with externals that they forget things like each other’s feelings. In this case, the fact that Holly is struggling to hold herself together.

Someone seems to be getting needlessly jealous.

I was thinking Holly expression was kind of reflective about all the things that changed for HER, and she is not “kinda ok” with it.

The seed of jealousy when she is coming apart and her mate seems able to handle the insanity with someone else easily.

Holly’s expression looks more sad than angry—-which seemed to be the dominant emotion in the “I Buried Clive” section.
