Bea Thorndike…Another victim of Specs’ specs?

Bea Thorndike looks pretty good in her cameo. I say it’s a cameo because Tracy has to go racing off to yet another urgent call. The lesson to be learned here is that it doesn’t do any good to hide your safe when there’s a criminal running around who can see through walls.

Mrs. Thorndike is looking pretty good. She hasn’t aged a day since the 1940s. Cartoon time is fun!

Mrs Thorndike a close friend of Chief Brandon always held Tracy and his work in ‘high esteem’. Gave him a present - an Album she’d compiled – A Rogues Gallery of his more ‘famous’ earlier FoesThese too always seemed on good terms … (?) Perhaps a little ‘stiffness’ here that’s over the top ? … the problem was her, ‘spoil’ niece *Debbie Thorndike

The Turtle Neck ‘top’ on Lizz today, partially masked (on GoComic’s) by purple colour and a small jacket is more clearly noted in Black and White (Houston Chronicle).

It reminded very much of a similar White ‘Turtle Neck’ Dick Locher had on her for several years in his time,Some (unkindly perhaps), thought it an ‘unofficial’ uniform, others - a casualty of a low budget (?)

Wish I had the clout to summon a top detective whenever my glasses go missing.

what I wanna know is…how did the apparatus find Specs so quickly AND manage to get him to their hideout to give him a position within their organization?!!?

That was something that Jack Benny lamented about moving from Radio to TV. On Radio you could do highly elaborate gags like The Vault with just a sound effects guy, Mel Blanc and Joe Kearns at the end as Ed the security guard. On TV if you went into the vault you had to show the steps, the death traps, the alligator, the vault door and then someone as the security guard. It was highly elaborate – and expensive – for not that great of a return in terms of laughs. Jack once said that the best TV version of the Vault gag wasn’t done on his TV show but on Lucille Ball’s show where they had more money available, and could make the vault a big portion of the episode.

Part of the reason why “The Mouse That Jack Built” was so great was that Jack and his whole cast, including Mary Livingston who was mostly retired by that time, were active participants in the cartoon. Reportedly the only payment Jack asked for doing his own voice on the cartoon was a copy of the print for himself.

—That was very interesting, Sask. Some of that I’d heard before, such as the cartoon. But the rest was news to me. Especially Ms. Ball’s show having more money. Mr. Benny’s show was a big hit for many years. Thank you!

It appears that the Thorndike Caper was indeed a burglary (as distinct from what it was at first called, a robbery), making it even less deserving of Tracy’s attention but for whom it involved, viz., a wealthy pal (and no doubt big political contributor) of Mayor Armstrong. But the theft from the well-hidden safe will turn out to be significant as a little footnote to the big HSB heist, once Diet Smith has his chance to inform Tracy of what was stolen from Smith Industries R & D.How the Three Detectives (Four, once the additional one mentioned by Mike over on that social networking site gets on board) become involved is not clear, unless this crime spree takes on international dimensions….

Specs will have fun getting arrested by Liz before they get the specs off, lol…..

Bedtime for me. I supposedly have some free time Friday afternoon, so I’m going to try to finish off the shirt design then. The special discount runs until midnight Friday night.
