Norton and Ralphie are now unwitting accomplices to Specs and Spicy’s fight to Cuba. It is good that Dick Tracy was also recruiting reinforcement while socializing in New York. The chase begins. Who will get to Cuba first. Tracy or The Apparatus?
I’m up, but I’ll post what I wrote last night, having seen this strip before it appeared on this site:
Well, apparently Specs and Spicy have not been killed because they are still trying to give them assignments, but they’ve flown the coop. The Queen of Spades has that classic hourglass figure!
Spicy and Specs took an awful chance, if they indeed did put themselves in the trash for a way to sneak out of the Apparatus HQ. Did you ever watch the trash pick-up guys operate one of those trucks? They very frequently pull the lever that activates the compacting – how did they know they wouldn’t get crushed to death before they could extricate themselves from the truck? (Someone mentioned this briefly yesterday, but then we thought there were other possibilities for what was making the trash extra heavy.)
Neither is that costume, Queenie; if you’re going to go that route, wear some tights and boots. (Or else change that Queen of Spades card for an Enterprise insignia from Star Trek.)
Might Queenie be wearing long gloves? She might be but I don’t think gloves were part of the uniform. I think they had short sleeves and bare mid riffs.
Night-Gaunt pointted out,I do, did you see the reunion show, “Are you being served—-again” a few years ago?-—————————————————————————.“You Being Served Again” was produced as “Grace and Favour” and ran for two seasons (12 episodes). Very enjoyable. All can be found on YouTube, of course.
The Queen of Spades does indeed have a pronounced hourglass figure, Neil Wick—not really my type (but I digress). And the shadows are clearly playing tricks with the appearance of her dress; in panel 1, seeming cut high on the right hip, while in panel 3 it seems both shorter and banded along the hemline in brownish-red. The coloring discrepancies I attribute to the lighting and shadows and possibly to the fabric and surface finish of the dress….Meanwhile, Specs and Spicy are gone, possibly via the trash. The queen has it right: “This is not good!"
Dick Tracy just came up in a clue on “Jeopardy”. The clue was “In 1994, Tess Trueheart served him with divorce papers.” Obviously they got back together.

And a new character? “Queenie” aka Queen of Spades? New person or a reboot from the old 52 gang (Sorry I’m a kid….)

Queenie had a quick costume change from panel 1 to 3. Her dress was longer in panel 1 compared to panel 3

She doesn’t look like Marsha, Queen of Hearts from the Batman TV show. Holy Middle Age, Batman!
