Wiley’s back! Though perhaps when the cartoons are old, he’s already back? Probably best, no one knows. ;-)Anyway, we know whats coming next in the comments, “not mine, yours.” No, not mine, yours." Noooo, not mine, yours."…..
Reminds me of the quote by Mark Twain:“A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain.”
Vonne, the only surprise is they haven’t been knocked down by a plow…..Glad to see the divers have their priorities straight tho……Whiskey Sour, please?……Way back in the day, a bunch of us got it in our heads to have a whiskey sour party…Just whiskey sours one night,,(Got no explanation, why, really, other than we were waiters and waitresses in Kalamazoo at the time ..)…Anyway, you’d be surprised how quickly whiskey sours get old……..So we broke into the Stroh’s before too long……
Odd that some of you actually have parking meters outside of bars. We don’t have that so much in Arizona. It seems strange to expect people to have a few, then rush out to their cars to avoid a ticket and set up for a DUI instead. Oh well, it’s much like drive-thru liquor stores and braille at the drive-up ATM machines. Just don’t make much sense, but that don’t stop people from doing it, huh?
When I visited DC during my government career, and when it would snow more than an inch, it always appeared the snow removal process was “let it melt”.
“Ah, but then, in the Spring, it’ll be too rainy and stormy a lot of the time to do much of anything, either! Beautiful, sunny weather? Hey, no need to be cooped up in an office all day, when you can go out and enjoy the Sun! Summer? Not during a thunderstorm, thank you! The rest of the time, it’s too hot and sticky to do any work anyway! Fall? Same thing; too brisk, and windy! And, it’s getting colder! Winter again? Nah, too cold; too much snow and ice! Gets on our nerves, after a while! Not to mention, the Holiday Season; everyone else gets off at that time, and so why not us?”And the cycle continues!
Hmm, give all Federal employees the same retirement requirements and benefits as Congress gets, and benefits like using Walter Reed for free medical care, and then listen to the screaming! Congress does use federal medical plans (FEHB), but their retirement, not to mention post-service lobbying income, is absurd. BTW: after 30 years federal employees get about 50% of their “high three” salary, while Senators end up getting MORE than they were paid when COLAs they write themselves kick in.
It ain’t about punching a time clock, but the way they punch the taxpayers in the gut. Any who’ve called for adjusting their benefits downward, can’t get anywhere with those proposals, yes some have tried.
A variation on the same theme:Sesame Street, Ernie and Bert’s apartment.Bert nags Ernie to close the window, because the rain is coming in and getting everything all wet. But Ernie can’t do it; because if he goes out in the rain, he’ll get all wet, too! Well, anyway, the rain soon stops, and the Sun comes out. Perfect time to fix the window! But Ernie retorts, “Well, why fix it now, Bert? If it’s not raining anymore, nothing’s getting wet; so there’s no reason to fix it NOW, Bert! (Khkhkhkhkhkhkhkh!)”(Humor music ending)Bert: (disgusted sigh!)

Read Caro’s “Lyndon Johnson, Master of the Senate” if you’re interested in how things work/don’t work there. A masterpiece.

I wish Congress worked like a lot of jobs, and everyone had to punch in on a time clock. That alone would save the US government millions.

What’s the hurry anyway? It is the typical way tax dollars are spent. And hoo boy!, the executive of this outfit.

Plotting their own course in-spite of their duties. Waiting for snow to melt? Meaning going to work next summer.

At one time our city had a mayor (only one term!) who said “God put it there and when he’s ready he’ll take it away”
