I’m guessing that Buddibombs are meant for destroying mutants and that Lynn really really doesn’t approve of this. He sounds more and more like a really good guy.
Lyn really doesn’t trust Apex so I understand his concern. I have no idea what Buddibombs are, whether they’re just a passive surveillance system or if they have some sort of nonlethal home defense capability but I understand that whatever they are supposed to do for Holly and Lyn could also be done against them for Apex’s benefit.Cute that Lyn calls the robot “Robbie”. One of Asimov’s earliest robot stories used that name.
Interesting the sofa that wally and company are sitting on stays still and the scene changes before them. It’s like they are in a theater, and I suppose that is exactly what the show is. It is an educational back story to fill in the blanks of why Holly feels the way she does.
I think that the Buddibombs have some sort of AI built into them, therefore they aren’t completely controllable by the owner. What ever they are for they can also be used against you, possibly by Apex, hence the fear and concerns. I also think that they became the dittoes.
You know, our trio are unseen observers on the couch. What would happen if one of the humans tried to sit on said couch and they didn’t move fast enough?
One couch is just like another……homes owned by our friendly APEX corporation….generic, uniform, sterile, totally uniform. It would be funny if the buddibombs began jumping about and yapping like excited Chihuahuas at Wally and company on the couch.
Buddibombs, the personal anti-personel weapon. Amazing how Apartheid like is this pre-war society is. The snooty suburban bigots. There is a connection here to our own reality. Up until the end of apartheid, white homeowners were allowed to buy and set landmines to protect their properties. Door sill mounted flamethrowers were also a reality for luxury car owners as an option. Not too far from our own reality of gated communities and class separation. It makes me wonder which one are the real monsters?
“You! Go to your room, young girl! And THINK about what you’ve done here. And if you ever even CONSIDER bringing Buddibombs into the house again, you’ll be grounded for the rest of your life!”
I presume the BuddiBombs are intelligent explosives, like the bomb in “Dark Star”. Except they probably have plasticized human brain tissue like the zero guns. They would determine and only blow up real threats. Theoretically. But what happens when their masters become monsters? Do they protect them or destroy them or have mental breakdowns? I think we may find out, if Lyn turns monster while Holly’s sleeping. The ones watching over Holly might protect her from Lyn, and the ones watching over Lyn may protect him from Holly if they don’t destroy him first.
Well, the robots in “R. U. R.” would be called androids now…robota is, I believe, the Czech word for worker, and was simply left untranslated.Don’t forget Robbie the Robot from “Forbidden Planet,” though. Also Asimov’s short story “Robbie” a/k/a “Strange Playfellow.”
For some reason I can’t get (load the rest of the comics) to open. This is after about 6 tries off and on all day. I guess I will go to the Facebook page to see if anyone has had this problem. If you can see this, does anyone know my addy to email me?
Finally, they just loaded. I am always so interested about comments.I couldn’t make out the name of the store name either. Also about the Clive incident , it does make for wondering if she is going to see either Lyn, or more probably her baby get buried.
Engineer, on the battlefield, could mean two things: Reconstruction, or destruction. Apex has a history of putting employees on the battlefield. He may have been an engineer for them beforehand, and worked on some of their weapon designs.
Maybe he got a little close to the truth/plot, and Apex, being Apex, not being able to buy him off, could easily disappear him in combat with “friendly fire”. We already have some fairly recent cases where that happened in Afghanistan. An unpopular soldier that everyone up the chain hates, oops, head shot and down he goes.

Okay, We’re back to Holly & Lyn’s place and evidently Lyn has an opinion about Buddibombs.

Interesting that only the Buddibomb box opened. But it wouldn’t have made much sense for the story if it was disposable diapers.

Do buddibombs evolve and suck out human brains to become mutts? It would not surprise me if someone in Apex got inspired by that thought.

Very true! Thank you. I just don’t know much about Wally’s history and such. It seems I must go back to at least 2011.

I’m guessing something with the word “bomb” in the title isn’t something you should just spill all over your floor.

That is a lot of a big haul from 3 “friends”? I’m glad Lyn opposes the Buddy ball. He probably knows more about them since he is now at work for APEX.

Does this have anything to do with Holly’s hysteria over Wally burying that thing? Could it have been Lyn or perhaps the baby she’s expecting?
