Selling indulgences again?? Didn’t those con men learn their lesson the first time around? (Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation with the publication of his Ninety-Five Theses on October 31, 1517. In this publication, he attacked the Church’s sale of indulgences.)

But how is Opus to pay when he has no means of support, which was the sin in the first place?

Pope abuse? Well….maybe. The hat part, anyway….

Everything I like is either illegal, immoral or fattening.

Heck, Victoria’s Secret and Fredericks of Hollywood built empires on their catalogs. I would wager a bet that many a man ordered them for their significant others.

Ms. Magazine didn’t have ads. Opus has committed the sin of lying.

For us it was the Sears catalog…

Victoria’s Secret catalogues didn’t come in the mail at that time.

The women’s underwear ads in the Sears catalog were quite appealing to young boys back in the day.

Opus was confessing his sin of lust, which is a sin. But while lust is a sin, God provides a simple way to redemption…. which is NOT paying a sideshow preacher!

MATTHEW 5:28 “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

ROMANS 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

JOHN 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

And he’s a cockroach, which could not be more appropriate.

This is how we ended up with Protestants. Being able to pay your way to Heaven didn’t sit well with some people. Now their descendants are sending the kid’s college fund to the megachurch of their choice in hopes of getting rich enough while alive to be allowed into Heaven after they croak off.
