I do not see any romantic interest on Luann’s part here, but if he keeps pushing for it too much then the friendship possibility will be lessened. Not sure where this is going. Perhaps the Evanes point is that it will not go anywhere.

Puzz and Rhelburn yesterday postulated that this is somehow going to lead to something unrelated to dating, perhaps something which shows Luann an academic passion – that there will be a twist.NG pointed out that Jock might be a good match for Tiffany, (especially with Gunther being so unaware?).People here have often mentioned that we rarely see parents other than Nancy, Frank, and Mrs. Berger. What if Tiff, her father (who has perhaps seen some of Luann’s work and has a fitting summer job need), and their dog are at the dog park?

Is this maybe actually a pretty good match?(1) Neither Luann nor Jock is exactly a candidate for the Dean’s List, so neither one will embarrass the other when it comes to academics.(2) Luann has yet to discover a vocation. Maybe Jock hasn’t found one either, but maybe he has, and at least he is actively pursuing one possible avenue, namely sports.(3) They are both dog fanciers. In fact, Jock likes them a lot. He seems to have genuine warmth and a good heart.(4) Although Nancy tells Luann that she has “inner beauty”, she is in fact at least physically attractive enough to have turned Gunther’s head in high school and to have established one long-term relationship. Jock may not be exactly a movie star either, but he is rugged and has a prominent profile.(5) Luann likes superficial guys with a single name.

You know, Jock is an actual Scottish first name, so it still might be his real name. Heck, with his hair color he woukd be wanted for First Footing (a tradition that can be looked up by the curious). Jock is offering suggestions of things she might like. One of them is a hit. He is thoughtful and remembers things about her. She should give him a chance. He’d be a better match for Luann than Emo would be.

A lot of the commentors were wrong about Pru when she first showed up. I think they are wrong about Jock too. He could turn out to be a great guy.

I see no reason to be disparaging of Jock. He may not be the brightest bulb in the box (nor is Luann!), but he seems actually to enjoy his art class and to be enthusiastic about learning about art (to the extent that it is possible to do so, in Zebu’s class!). He may be a bit aggressive in wanting to data Luann, but he has always been polite and has never tried to force himself onto her. Jock may not be Luann’s future husband, but they might find that they can share a good relationship with each other for a while. If not, then that’s what college and dating are all about! They can both learn from the experience.It’s time for the Fogarty crew to start dating people that they didn’t know in high school, instead of being stuck in an eternal rut of briefly dating one another, over and over. I hope Gunther and Tiffany start looking around in the Moony student body for possible partners, too.

8From my perspective…. I think that Luann is perhaps considering this potential “date” as being far, far more serious a commitment than is warranted. I think she should go and simply have fun with another person who can potentially become a good friend. If by some chance romantic feelings arise (hopefully not until perhaps after several friendship “dates”)…. then it is time to assess that possibility. I guess I am saying…. Jacque seems like a nice fellow, why not at least hang out a bit on this “date” to become deeper friends? For that matter, I think the same could be said and done with Emo as well… presuming he would want to go out and do something with Luann.

Yes, but just because you don’t check them out as much, doesn’t mean they haven’t been "checking on you ", and that’s basically part of what “still being in the game” can mean, as well.

Emo is finishing Luann’s sentence for her and won’t even let her express herself. Emo is controlling and pushy in this case, not Jock.

I had much rather see Jock just come out and ask Luann out on a date than to spend another 2 months with Bernice setting up some stupid scheme to wind up in the same room with Piro (instead of just asking him out on a date!). The current story arc is way superior to most of the story this year so far (such as the NYC trip).

As they age, men lose “cuteness” which is Luann’s standard. She had better stop trying to be a cradle robber and start looking for real men. Bernice, on the other hand, will end up with a professor who is 20 years her senior. The only hot tension is between Tiffany and Gunther and what will be the catalyst that finally ignites them. And, forget Brad and Toni, I want Knute and Crystal to return as a married couple.

Emo is starting to remind me of Sadness in the movie “Inside Out”. Luann is a little like Joy . Jock doesn’t fit there. But Seismic-2 has convinced me that Joy should go on a casual date with Jock. I don’t think she should live as a cloistered nun to “find her life goals”. Maybe she will become a dog breeder.

I got hooked on this strip oh….about 5 years ago…..I love it and anticipate the next installment each day…….but some of you folks take it waaaaay too seriously!!!
