Around Tracyville, and the territories on west, there’s just one way to handle the killers and the spoilers, and that’s with a Chief of Detectives, and the smell of …
Blam! goes the gunshot and “crash” goes the door lock. Looks like Blaze Rize successfully deflected the bullet away from herself. Notta is absolutely livid about the sell-out, though! She’s not going to let one missed shot quench her anger.
Naughty Notta’s nocturnal gun-play is not necessary. Better to quietly “adjust” Blaze’s bow-tie. Why? Cat beats rat, if it comes to that. Wonderful four-panel goodness from Team Tracy. A door kicked in. Who shall win?
The last time Tracy (and Sam) were outside Notta’s door and bullets came zinging out from inside, Tracy and Sam shot through the door killing George Chin Chillar, Notta’s husband.
Tracy and Sam were only there to ask a question, not to arrest them. George panicked and began firing at them through the closed front door of the apartment. Tracy and Sam returned fire and George bit the dust.
As bullets come flying out of Notta’s house, she is lucky Tracy decided to kick the door in instead of returning fire like before.
I love Dick Tracy!! The art today and the way it tells a story is so good. Notta has gone ballistic. She and Blaze are in a death struggle. A shot has been fired. Tracy and Liz are crashing through the door. Great action!
To me, how many panels there are isn’t as important as to how well the story is told.
I agree that the number of panels is not important. It’s how you use them that counts. That being said, the more panels you have, the less dialogue there is room for, generally speaking. Today’s strip takes full advantage of an action-packed sequence in this strip medium.
Mrs. Chin Chillar has always been my favorite Dick Tracy character. She is unusual and exotic. The space coupe and Piggy stories were so much fun. Her costume is awesome. I’m happy as a lark Notta was finally given her own story. I am grateful for that and have quietly enjoyed it very much. I wish it would go on longer and we could see her more. But now that we’re nearing the end, especially after today’s terrific strip. I just have to say I’m more and more worried she’s going to die. I know it’s already been decided, but I’m going to be scared of reading the new strips now until this is over. Silly thing, isn’t it, that a comic character can be so important to you? And be worried if she will die?! And I am! Just telling the truth. I will be very depressed if she dies at the end of this story. I hope all you other Notta fans are right and we see her on a regular basis in the future. Please tell me again you are right. I’m embarrassed to be writing all this to tell you the truth. Just a guy, and we don’t like to talk about our feelings, do we? What a silly thing to feel this strongly about a fictional character! I’m sure it’s tied to nostalgia. Notta’s story made me so happy when I was younger. But I really do think she is one of the best characters Gould ever created. If you don’t agree that’s fine. She is awesome. Please don’t kill her off. I’ll end the stream of consciousness now.
A superbly crafted strip today! And it looks [he said cautiously] as though Tracy and Lizz will gain entry in time to rescue Blaze and make an arrest on Notta with no blood shed, or at least no loss of life….

If Notta is going to live, I hope witness protection can hide Blaze from Bribery as Notta is going to tell Bribery.

Where did Notta get the gun? It disappeared yesterday.

Beautiful strip. The first panel, in particular, is stunning.

Notta’s a magician! She can make her gun disappear and appear with a single pull of her beard! Amazing! Now what did she do with her purse? LOL!

Interesting how that coat clings to Tracy. I hope it doesn’t cause him to stumble.
