Good morning, VB. To be exact, summer starts at 6:34 pm EDT today (3:34 pm PDT, etc.), but weâve had a heat wave heat for several days. The cold front is due in here about the same time as summer starts.
Great art today. I notice Shelley is back on the inks, and they look great. Just like Joeâs looked great last week â though with a different style. Meanwhile, Nottaâs angry as ever, sigh. Thought she might have softened up a tad yesterday, but I guess that will take time.
So, Notta was Purdyâs only defense? I wonder what Blaze thinks of that claim.
Gweedo â Itâs legal here !!! â MurrayI wouldnât be surprised if Lizz would like to slap her, but of course, she canât do that, even if she wanted to.
Notta only had a momentary lapse yesterday, from the criminal mindset of playing the blame game. She is still no where near taking responsibility for her own actions.
It is perfectly obvious now why Sam did not ride along with Tracy on this gig, while Lizz (with two Zâs) did. With two female offenders to be taken into custody, a female detective is necessary [the police force and its civil rights concerns have not yet given way to gender-identity politics]. Nottaâs moment of human softness has passed as she reverts to the tough talk and attempted domination of her situation. Unfortunately for her, Lizz and Tracy arenât buying it. The EMTs will get Purdy into professional care (not the experimentation that Notta fears). Blaze will be taken in as a formality, but her lawyer (once she gets one) should have her out on modest bail PDQ. (Note that Notta has her hands cuffed behind her back, Blaze in front as typical for non-violent perps.)
This story got to third base but the runner was left strandedThe silliness the past few days left it rounded up and brandedUnfortunate to get hopes up the Eagleâs finally landedInstead to circle around the moon I hope Iâm not too candid.
Thanks to everyone for all the compliments on the ending yesterday to the Notta Fallar story. However, I canât take credit for it. It was Shelleyâs idea and a good one at that.
A few weeks ago, it was revealed that FB died of natural causes. It was revealed that FB died of a heart attack, after being shot at by someone who missed! If it could ever be proved that Blaze did the shooting, there is something in the law about causing death by oneâs actions. An actual charge of murder would not stick, but if a wrongful action scares someone to death, the person taking the wrongful action is at least partly responsible. Some years ago, Judge Wapner on one of those TV Courtroom shows explained it this way:If your dog bites a normal person, you might be responsible for the doctor bill. But, if your dog bites a person who happens to have a pre-existing phobia of dogs, and the person winds up needing psychiatric help as well as medical help, you would be responsible for those bills as well, because it was still your dog.Therefor, I wonder just how âoff the hookâ Blaze really is.
Doesnât the Miranda Rights reading have to be âword-for-wordâ? Seems like Liz(z) is abbreviating it a little, doncha think? I donât remember it being read to me like that! (Iâm not going to take a poll as to how it was read to others). That might get Notta off!
To @Willy007âThanks for the reply. Being an artist, Iâm familiar with the tools and what you said⌠but it sill doesnât tell me who is who is doing what. Joe Stanton and Mike Curtis are the credited artistsâ- so where are the names âShelleyâ and âJoeâ coming from??
âYou have the right to remain silent . . .Give my Ears a Break and Do So ! "
Some âtimelyâ LIP there from Lizz !
Perhaps the old âmemoryâ is fading.(/) . . .But canât recall her âsaying/doingâ anything of much greater note or consequence in recent times ? ?What comes to mind - was her gracious âStepping Downâ; as Chief to allow a Patton return
But, I guess ⌠sheâs had to take a âback seatâ during T â Boltâs front page âFilibustersâ(?) when the latter (Lee Ebony) disguised, âsucked upâ all the oxygen in the strip for several months (. . . including Top of the Team âMartial Artsâ recognition*!* :-)
But to give Mike and Joe their âJACKETSâ -T â Boltâs a truly âmemorableâ, their Best âCharacter Creationâ . . . one, that only takes a 2nd Place to the inlmitable - Doubleup !!
Pity sheâs just a Disguise and not an âOriginalâ in her own right !
Joe Stanton and Mike Curtis are the credited artistsâ- so where are the names âShelleyâ and âJoeâ coming from??
Mike Curtis is the writer of the strip, although I believe he sometimes pencils sketches of his ideas on how a panel should look. Joe Staton is the artist. If you look at the credit box on Sunday strips, you will see Shelley Pleger and Shane Fisher they do inking and coloring (Colors only on Sunday) These are things we have learned from reading these comments, and links to other Dick Tracy articles, over several years.
All in all, this was a good story. The characters didnât always act as I wouldâve logically expected but real life isnât always logical either. A writer can do the story whatever way he wants and we can react whatever way we want to it. I hope we see these characters again and there are plenty of threads out there for a few stories at least. Looking forward to this yearâs summer spectacular.

They really have nothing on Blaze, just theories that she took a shot long ago. No witnesses and the victim died of a heart attack.
