True story, I once had a roommate whoâd listen to Live From the Met on the radio, and conduct the operas, â while watching baseball games on tv with the sound turned off !
reel to reel â i use to use that device for all my gigs back in the day when you couldnât hall all the instruments with you or wanted a piano, or double guitar etc. on a song.had the best sound (at that time) for live stuff.now just press a button âsingâ into a mic and then have a computer fix the pitch/tone, add instruments, upload the finished product to youtube and you become a âstarâ
One of the bosses with Shell used to play his reel to reel player in their Morgan City offices..They were already ancient technology by then, but it was quite good sound quality â to my untrained ear..He had John Philip Sousa marches playing.Really wakes you up early in the morning.
Iâm guilty of doing this too. When I used to conduct The Mikado on my record player. And, in the 80âs, I was a conductor on the New York City Subway.
