Sorry, Calvin, but you’re ten years too young (and a few feet too short) for driving lessons. As for hang-gliding and sharpshooting? Not a chance that anyone would teach either of those to a six-year-old.
Go for it, Calvin; you’ll be glad in 10 years. My youngest, as a freshmen in HS came home from his first gig with his first band.Me: “How’d it go?”Him (wide-eyed): “You can meet GIRLS with this!!!!”
I endured one unpleasant piano lesson when I was around Calvin’s age before getting out of it due to a deformed left hand. I’ve taken to it as an adult learning to play a little, enough to accompany myself for YouTube videos, since I love singing. Which leaves me to think you really should not make kids learn piano that young; they won’t appreciate it at that age.
Piano lessons are basic to all music regardless to any other instrument chosen. I loved flute & began at age 11. But after years of professional classical lessons began to hear the siren song of banjo, both tenor & later 5-string.Wish I had lessons in structure of cords.
Every time my grand-dtrs visited they headed for the piano and BANG BANG BANG! Several years ago, they headed for the piano and thud thud thud! Grampa, there’s something wrong with the piano! Oh, I’ll have someone look at it, but it was just tuned in 1943! (Of course, the towels I threw over the hammers may have something to do with it!)
Tried to learn piano at six but couldn’t coordinate my hands. Tried to learn violin and my parents would go outside to get away from me while I practiced.
I was substituting in a piano class a few years ago. One student in particular couldn’t play his way through a simple two-finger exercise — but he was positively obsessed with the “Axel F theme” from “Beverly Hills Cop.” Go figure.

Forty-five minutes to an hour at a time, Mom is going find ways to keep Calvin out of her hair until school starts.

I don’t think they own a piano. With Calvin’s luck, he would have to practice at Susie’s house.

Maybe Schroeder can teach him

Not the piano. Calvin would probably just take the keys away to make a domino, or a set of teeth.

Has he got a brother George? And a candelabra? Learn to play classical music in a really kitschy sparkle style, kid, there’s gold in them thar keys!

The best way to get rid of a kid is summer camp. That’s what my mother did.

Calvin’s parents are going to regret this.

I’m more concerned about his lack of a seatbelt in the car. He may not live to see the piano.

I wouldn’t have minded taking piano lessons when I was Calvin’s age.
Pianos are beautiful instruments.
