Goat: Pig. This is Senator Bow Wow. He represents us in Congress and he's agreed to vote yes on an environmental bill that will clean up our city.
Senator: YES.
Voice: Doggie treats for a 'NO'.
Senator: NO.
Goat: His ethics are questionable.
The people we elect are OUR REPRESENTATIVES. That is, they ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF US. If we find them ignorant, venal, greedy, amoral, or stupid, we have no one to blame but ourselves. If you do not like the character of those who represent you at whatever level, donât vote for them. Find, fund, volunteer/work for other candidates. Or run for office yourself.
When the republic started senators where chosen to look out for the state that they came from(Stateâs Rights)âŠâŠâŠâŠ.usually picked by each stateâs legislature not a direct voteâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠthen the process was changedâŠâŠâŠ..
Hmmm⊠maybe putting the power treats on the shelf nearest to the grubby toddler hands wasnât a good idea.It was a GREAT IDEA!There is no way grown adults would allow their toddlers to have access to power treats unless they grab them themselves and the adults get stuck paying for them.Very low eye level, very narrow channel to negotiate and filthy grabbing hands make for increased sales.
Sadly, this is the normal ethical standard for most of our politicians. A good first step to cleaning up this cesspool would be legislation to negate that âmoney is speechâ decision by the Supremes. Of course, anyone who believes that will ever happen is terminally naive.
Senator Bow Wowâs ethics arenât questionableâŠtheyâre buyable. Politics since Day One. Whatâs happening in D.C. today is hardly new, but itsâ openness is. Everyone knows how venal these people are, but we keep re-electing them. Liverlips is right: Voters are idiots.
Placing so much power at so low a level, rather than having it rest beyond the reach of collective interests, in the hands of the people themselves, can only result in it being pilfered and adulterated and sold to the highest bidder.
I think itâs actually âspeechâ, but I could easily be wrong. Also, isnât $400,000 a bit high? More like $50,000 which is really shameful for a former politician to charge. They didnât do a darn thing while in office and they think Iâm paying more than $5.00 to hear them talk some more? No way.

Who is that mysterious disembodied hand offering Senator Bow Wow the bribe? Who is the real shadow gummymint? What difference, now, does it make?

I only have one question. How does a dog become a senator? Who takes him for walkies and scoops his poop?
