I know this is a comic strip for entertainment etc, but the somewhat perverted behaviour of the Pattersons has always bothered me. John admits to having peeped at people using a toilet; Michael peeps at teenage girls; Elly’s Brother Phil used to charge his friends to peep on her while dressing. Grandpa Jim spends much of his time leering at very young women and fantasising about group naughties with several young women. John looks at a lot of porn, and he doesn’t deny that some of what he looks at is ‘pretty gross’ when challenged. On the other hand, lots of people do behave like this, but usually Lynn pulls up characters when they behave in less than ideal ways, and shows some possible consequences.Ok, I’ll go back under my stone now…
@catchupYou are joking, YES? You cannot be REAL….Patterson and pervertionare names that cannot stay in the same line (or in the same universe). If a critic can be made to Lynn is that sometimes she uses too optimistic lenses, but PERVERTION, indeed!
jmarkoff2 has it right. It’s meant to poke fun at human behavior. The fact that we may discuss the "right and “wrong” of what we see here, is a good thing.
It is just a comic – but without the internet and being in a small town(almost no access to girly mags), the boys are going to find another way. The girls’ locker room was across from the woodshop in my jr high. From the loft, you could see right in the window to the shower exit. The window was always open on hot days. I found out later that the girls were well aware and a few enjoyed the attention.
And girls don’t peep too?A boy in our area got caught smoking out behind the barn:After a stern lecture on the evils of smoking dad says:“And I don’t ever want to catch you smoking again!”“Well, I – I didn’t aim for you to catch me this time!”
ComicsssfanI’ve heard of kids, with an electronic interest, install a speaker under the seat in an outhouse and wait for someone to enter, and a few minutes later blair into the microphone:“HEY MOVE OVER – WE’RE WORKING DOWN HERE!”
That’s why you wear sunglasses, to make the “looking” less obvious. Trust me, if you’re cute the girls are looking back…and if they like what they see they’ll drop their sunglasses, look over them and give the little flirty smile…At least, that’s how it worked when I was a young lady in the swingin’ seventies!
I don’t know the standard when this comic was printed. Today they would be arrested and branded a Sexual Predator. 3 months in Juvenile detention and have to register as a level 2 Sex Offender.

I think most little boys go through such a stage. And Michael seems mortified. Punishment enough.

It’s natural for young ones to be curious. It doesn’t merit whaling the tar out of them.

I’d say the kids were normal….even if they’d seen something….why was the window wide open anyway?

John said he was going to give Mike the same punishment his father gave him. He did not say it was “nothing”.
