I knew a family who had the police smash down their door, route them out of bed in the middle of the night, handcuff them, literally, tear the house apart looking for narcotics – only to discover someone had read the warrant incorrectly, and the house they really wanted was across the street.
Our SIL went over to a rental property they own and discovered the locks had all been changed. There was eviction notice taped to the door – for a house on the net street over.
I worked for a lumber yard that also sold and installed cabinets. One day the installers went to the job, only to find it locked up so they broke in, tore out the “old” cabinets in the kitchen along with the sink etc. Only when the salesman called the guys and asked why they hadn’t shown up at the job did they realize they were at the wrong end of the street; south instead of north!

Yes, I’m at the wrong house, I shouldn’t have been here if you intended to demolish it, dear demolisher

Yes, but your house was easier to demolish. I’ll be done in 5 minutes.

This still happens today. Work crews go to 123 St and not 123 Ave, etc.
