Wait… the retaliation fire didn’t happen until after the first wave hit? And secondly, the first wave didn’t take out the retaliation launch sites first?!? No wonder this world went to hell in a hand basket. No one with an ounce of military thought put any effort into this war.

U.S. missile silos were built to withstand a first strike. Makes sense that at least part of the retaliatory missile force would survive to launch a counter-attack.

What I want to know is who is in that car that seems to be escaping the carnage.

Missile silos in the middle of the city? Talk about MAD. Two birds with one bomb. Of course, given this level of aggression, it seems there were plenty of munitions to go around… ;-)

War as fought by Apex; no military strategy, just bomb them into a new age…one of mutants, immune non-mutants, monstrosities, and Topsiders.

Is there any significance to the numbers on the missiles?

If it had been too fast and unanticipated, they still should have gone after missile sites before hitting the very first segment of land and working its way inland. This is like mowing your lawn with a flamethrower. It’s excessive, you risk getting burned, and your neighbors are gunna be REALLY upset.

Or it’s artistic license. If it makes you feel any better, old GI Joe cartoons bug the carp out of me with how badly they mangle military stuff at times.

This reminds me of the Andromeda strain when they were getting ready to blow up the base with a nuke. They stopped it because it would just spread the virus. With all this overkill I expect there to be a LOT of spreading.

This seems to be answering a question that I had regarding how much of the Earth has been destroyed and whether or not there is much of human civilization left except the mutant colonies and the TS. The way that WMDs seem to be mowing across the continent suggests that the great waste may cover most of the Neitherland and the massive retaliatory strikes suggests that whomever launched this mess, and a whole lot of others, paid dearly. I do not expect that large parts of the world went untouched. This makes me wonder how the TS seems to have resources to build their massive drones the new rocket and other things.

If the anti-missile defense is Apex, who’s responsible for the incoming missiles?

The Edmund Fitzgerald may be a hint that this is taking place on Lake Superior, between northern and southern nations. Assuming Neitherland is the analog for the U.S., then the attack may have come from the Canadian analog.Blame Canada.

@ says Coyoty – No, the standard missile path between the USSR and the USA during the cold war was over the North Pole . Don’t forget about all the missile Submarines lurking who knows where and the Bomber arm of the triade.

Do you think Romney wouldn’t have done the same thing? Not saying pro-Obama, but this is what all the presidents since the last 40 years or so have done. Our next candidates both pose a greater threat than any previous presidents.
