Yes, wish I could do that. Though not nearly as many would I bury.

Don’t bury the Underwood, Bob. It may have value as an antique.

So THAT’S what Wiley does with comics the editors don’t like! Hope he mixes manure with that paper so it composes better.

Well Bob, you’re lucky you got a rejection letter. The trend in this day and age is simply to ignore you … if you don’t hear from us …

I wonder what JK Rowling does with her rejection letters? Does she mail copies to the writers and write on top of the contents in “magic” marker; hah han hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah (I’m on my way to the bank) hah hah hah hah hah hah? Every day must be worse than living under the cruciatus curse for those that sent her away, eh?

Cruelest rejection letter ever: “I am sitting in the smallest room in my house. Your manuscript is before me. Soon it will be behind me.”

Some things The Beatles heard during their struggling years: “Sorry, boys, guitar bands are on their way out,” “You’re the worst we’ve ever heard,” and so on. Not to say that perseverance always pays off – the hard truth is that it may not. But one has to try, anyway.

Rejection letters: collect the whole set! There’s some pride in saying that you’ve been rejected by the finest publishers in the world.

On my first book, I got 37 rejections, including from Scribner’s, who ultimately published it. However, now they refuse to consider a third edition because I do not have an agent (nor did I the first two editions). Since then, they fired all their “first readers” who evaluate proposals, and charge the authors for that in the form of agent fees instead.

I guess he wrote that career path off his list. In fact, I would make book on it.
