Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for October 09, 2016
Transcript:
Janis: I'm going for my walk! Arlo: Why don't you walk here, in the backyard? Janis: The backyard? Arlo: Sure! We go to a lot of trouble and expense to make it peaceful and pretty! Why not take advantage of it? Arlo: Swimmers do it every day! Think of the yard as a lap pool! Arlo: You could walk a variety of patterns! Janis: The grass will die soon enough.

Good try, though, Arlo; good try.

She’s on to him. I myself hate mowing the lawn, and I have a small yard….Everybody knows that grass is almost impossible to kill, right? Lack of water will not kill it…It will still come back….Sun? It doesn’t care…You can literally light it on fire and it will thrive afterwards….In fact it actually loves it….Anyway, my dad always said he was going to pave it and paint it green….

….and while you’re walking how about pushing the mower?

Lawns die anyway and leaves will fall. It’s a circle of life thing.

I can’t think of anything more boring than walking laps around a tiny yard. Almost as boring as walking on a treadmill. Going out of the yard to walk is more interesting. The yard is a place to rest after the walk. :)

Very boring to walk back and forth in the same place. And walking on grass is more dangerous than on a flat, level surface.

Bad enough taking the same two dog-walks every day; plus, we have so many berry bushes, fruit trees and grape vines, there isn’t any place to walk anymore.

Kind of like riding a stationary bike – same feeling a caged hamster has.

If you tread on the grass regularly and evenly while the conditions are not too harsch, the turf will be much more enduring when it becomes arid, hot or freezing. Grass needs to have enough cutting, light and humidity, and the right pH, then no weed can overgrow it

Egrayj, I think you’re onto Arlo, too! And Dani, I love dandelions….They are pretty…They go well with the violets.A friend of mine was scooping violets out of his lawn…I had to tell him I had just transplanted a bunch from the woods and put them in my lawn…

And push something, like the lawnmower, to bolster upper body strength.
