When considering that the biggest battery possible for the phone is needed to keep all those apps from draining its power within a couple hours, he’s absolutely right.
I have a flip-phone for mobile communications. All the “apps” I might want are covered within my desktop or laptop PC (on screens that I can actually see). Bonus: my “out-of-house” trips are waaaaayy peaceful.
Good grief, get with the times, it`s nice to be able to communicate on the go. But some old people………………..got to knock down everything down they don`t want or understand. Desktop, lol, hello, it`s not 1999 anymore!
She’s not specifically saying so, but she’s implying that Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Instagram are apps, but they are Web Sites, although i suppose they all have apps that you can install…
I worked as a receptionist for too many years and was always so glad to get away from the incessant ringing of the phone. No way do I want to be tied to a cell phone when I’m out-and-about. I carry it for emergencies only and don’t need or want any apps.
Well ,I guess I’ll add my 2 cents worth ! My flip phone is 8$ a month and it stays in the truck.( except to charge and test call ) For the first time last week I needed to make a call for a tow .Guess what ? No apps !
That’s my phone, too. I do have a few apps on it, though. I use my flashlight app a few times a week. My next most frequently used app in an HP-16C emulation. Behind that comes a stopwatch.
My phone is a tool for simple comunication when needed, I don’t need or want any of that Garbage ! I’d rather walk around living my Life than stumble around staring at a stupid phone !

would a phone with 10 apps actually weigh a speck of a nanogram more than a phone without?

I use Google on mine, but don’t care enough about other people’s opinions to get the others.

Even if my phone took apps, unless it was practical, I wouldn’t need any.
