Now that he is out in the cold, I noticed that the sign has dropped significantly.

Sandwich board would have been better. By the way jock is looking pretty handsome there. Someone points out he likes to flirt with girls, but that is nothing bad. They are not dating, so being careful not to do that around Luann is not that bad of a thing. Of course if he liked boys then I guess he would be interested in Emo’s butt (lol). I mean in a biblical way. OMG maybe I better shut up while maybe I am still ahead. (lol). I think though that the idea of Luann possibly being with this Jock might not be that bad of an idea after all.

He must like showing off to not bring a bathrobe to wear. He runs the risk of being arrested and stamped as a “sex deviant” will haunt him the rest of his life. Nudity doesn’t do well in such a tight laced body hating sex phobic culture as ours.

Somebody said that there had been a noticeable change in the design of Luann’s bridesmaid dress from one appearance to another, but I haven’t been able to notice the difference. Can anyone point out what strips I should be looking for to see the difference, and what part of the dress the difference is in?

You gotta give Mr. Jock one thing. He’s never pushy, never overbearing. Every time Luann turns him down, he always accepts it with a measure of good grace.

He better not move the sign to the back the dog might see that hotdog and take a bite out of it.

Since Luann is going to meet with Bernice, I wonder if the conversation will go like this:

Luann: “The jock guy from my art class asked me out again.”

Bernice: “Yeah?”

Luann: “This time he wanted us to take our dogs to the park together.”

Bernice: “Hey, did you ever find out what his name is?”

Luann: “Uh…”

On the prudery scale, the U.S. is about at the midpoint between Islamo-faschist states and modern European social democracies. Luann should make the comment that Sharon Gless (playing Cagney) made in Cagney & Lacey after a guy flashes her. “I’ve seen better.”

What if (Mr. Seymour Goth ;-) ) Emo’s car has been stolen and Jock (Jock Duff ;-) ) walked to school? Jock would have to lend his shirt for a cover, and after the police report Luann woukd need to first drive the censored one home, followed by driving Jock and pup home w his to-do laundry.

I know. It will not happen, but i would like some more little surprises like that thrown in. They would be extra fun.

I found this post interesting. ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT ARCS LASTING TOO LONG!!

As I mentioned in a previous blurb, relationship stories are most interesting during the early stages when the couple is circling around, getting to know each other, dealing with the uncertainty – and sometimes embarrassment – of young love. Of course, this can’t go on forever. Eventually, a couple either gets together (boring) or splits up (end of fun). The middle ground is to have them split up temporarily. This adds intrigue and keeps the story going. In the case of Brad and Toni, this off/on strategy kept the story alive for 15 years!Which brings up the issue of “comic strip time.” In a strip that’s telling a story, it’s logical to assume that each daily installment represents that day in time. And sometimes it does. But most often, each strip is only a moment in time. So an entire week – or even month – of strips could represent only a few minutes in the lives of the characters. A conversation that in real time would take only 5 minutes, could require several days in a comic strip, where 100 words is pretty much the limit before the text starts to overwhelm the drawings.

Naturally, this odd time shift leads to some awkwardness. Characters set a date for “Friday” but actually begin the date on Thursday and end it a week later. Or Christmas Day lasts a week. Or a couple like Brad and Toni have a 15 year courtship (if Brad was 20 when he met Toni, he’d now be 35!)

Thankfully, readers understand this comic strip time weirdness and are willing to play along.

There was a student at UCSD who used to go nude to his classes.

Nice that Jock is possibly being gallant in consideration of the potential offense to Luann’s vision.

It’s nothing you haven’t seen before, Luann (think of Gunther’s wardrobe failures). So don’t be so pretend-prudish. Just go along with Jocko. Go home, change your outfit, gather up Puddles, and head for the dog park!

Seeing if you and Jocko can hit it off will be much more entertaining than listening to Bernice whine on yet again….

One day to go in this arc. How will it end? My uncreative logic says the police will intercept Emo. Well, at least they won’t have to pat him down and, more importantly, I can stop making these terrible puns. Hey, Gunther, let’s go knock on Tiffany’s door.
