Lynn’s Notes:My mom called these small annoying carpets “scatter rugs.” I never really thought about it until I had hall floors to protect, then the word “scatter” made sense.
We have a commercial entry rug…. the type that’s solid rubber with a kind of fiber embedded. Cleans shoes a treat, but is not pretty. It really protects the flooring and who really cares what it looks like anyways.
Why not blame poor old Farley? After all he eats the kid’s homework, crumbs off the floor, doesn’t chase the buggers, pees in the hall and licks you in the face after licking his rear. Sure to get a lump of coal in his stocking. But you guys love him. He really needs a good lawyer . . .
Elly is drawn with a severe cervical curvature of the spine, and this is before the advent of the smartphone (so the condition is now called “text-neck”).Regarding the bunching up of the throw rug, in my house it’s the cat skidding on it.
I call them throw rugs though my mom never used them. We do place throw rugs around furniture to have longer lasting carpet. Then with our Christmas tree I did with a tool and yarn on canvas made a Christmas theme to place around tree. Cat used to love sleeping on it.

We gave our dog a comforter, folded into a square, so it was nice and thick and comfortable. He loved it.
It was arguably more comfortable than our couch.

We called them scatter rugs, too. Not sure what else I would know to call them!

Throw rugs were what we called them when I was a kid—still do for that matter, if I have a reason to refer to them.

With all the comics reruns now, I can’t be sure whether this is Farley or Edgar.

And this is exactly why anti-skid rugs and underpads were invented. Double sided tape works, too.
