Woman: You should be ashamed of yourself! Man: Wait...what? Why? Woman: Everything here is a lie, which makes you a purveyor of lies! LIES, LIES, LIES!! Man: Uh...lies about what? Woman: Which part of "every-thing" don't you understand?! Ugh! I can't stand being near this lame-stream media outhouse! Phone: Bloop bloop bloop bloop Woman: Ahh...take me away, blissful internet! Man: Whoa......I just had the most ludicrously stupid dream. Woman: Hmm...I read an item on Facebook claiming dreams are part of a government mind-control program. They're calling it Dream-gate... Man: Ok...the most stupidly accurate dream...

If Facebook and Twitter are your primary news sources, you’re not informed.

We have to do our own fact checking with the help of those who do truly follow the credo of accurate news, researched and supported by facts.

Yes, Internet “news” is a dream gone straight to nightmares. It should be myth news though instead of just “fake”, as they intent is to make folks “myth” any facts.

The nice thing about facts are that they are true whether you choose to believe them or not.

It’s a bit frightening that so many people can’t distinguish between an organization that adheres to some journalistic standards and a blog that just writes whatever confirms their biases.
And it’s even more frightening that one of those people is the President-Elect.

There was a local car accident and I can’t find 2 reports of it that match.

It is said that legends were rooted in actual events, and that the narrations changed over time to suit prevailing social attitudes.
Some say both religion and myth followed the same path to the present. It all happened over many millennia, and has left confused multitudes in its passing.
Wouldn’t that indicate that ‘fake news’ is nothing new? Isn’t the current version just a speedier, more deliberately aggressive way to produce the same effect in a shorter time?

The news in the “independent news sites” has been retouched more than the models in Vogue.I still have Facebook, but only because I need it to sign in one some sites.

Y’know, that news seller really needs to install a trap door in the sidewalk right about where she’s standing. Or buy a high-powered taser…

About the time we got married was the end of the Vietnam war. My wife had a little sister who was just learning to distinguish between what is real on the news and make believe on TV shows. Sad, now there is no difference

Today, most “news” is really infotainment, and not very good at either informing or entertaining.

It used to be so easy to know what news was fake. It came in a tabloid that they sold every week at the supermarket checkout and no one believed it. Now it comes on a website and too many people believe it.
