One thing I don’t get is why they insist on pronouncing it VEE-gans, when it’s clearly VAY-gans. And when I say VAY-gans, which I always do, it seems to really annoy them….
I’m vegetarian, but I aspire to go vegan. I don’t talk about it. For some people, that’s not good enough; they practically demand that you eat meat. Why is that?
I work backstage at a concert venue. Lots of bands have members that are, shall we say “trendy.” One served Vegetarian lasagne, and Vegan Lasagne. Now I know Vegans are stricter, by why couldn’t the vegetarians eat the vegan one?
Vegetarianism and its variants have been around a long time. When I first found out about it it was from male characters like Spock and an athlete character in the film, “The Howling”.
As an American, I agree with the fact that, in general, we eat too much meat and not enough vegetables and fruit. However, there are certain minerals and vitamins that are hard to impossible to find in a pure vegan diet.
I’ve never met a true vegan – all have drunk water at some point (NOT derived from vegetation), and all consume oxygen (admittedly air typically includes both plant and animal derived material, but I don’t think you want me to go into detail).
I’d rather croak at 60 (had bypass surgery at 45, cholesterol level AT THAT TIME was 153, it’s 106 now. ‘Bad’ Cholesterol is 61. And I eat meat on a regular basis.) eating food I like than live to 90 being miserable while eating bland tasteless veggies & tofu.

It’s a painful challenge for hosts, hostesses and chefs, too.

Religion, politics, sexual orientation. Add your dietary choices to conversation taboos.

So if someone becomes a vegan and tells no one, has he actually become a vegan?

How do you know if someone is vegan, christian, or gay? Don’t worry they will let you know. They tell everybody.

The best thing that can be said of vegans is that they’re grain fed.
