I watched “A Hard Day’s Night” last weekend. Seeing how young everybody was, and remembering how young I was, was a surprisingly melancholy experience. Great tunes, though.
Those who were not around in the Sixties, to see the Beatles, simply cannot understand the level of fan hysteria at the time. There’s been NOTHING like that in the last 60+ years. John Lennon was not that far from the mark on their over-the-top and insane level of popularity, when he made the “We’re more popular than Jesus” remark that got him in trouble.
And it is Pterasaur, not Pterodactyl. Not that anyone cares since the latter is used almost everywhere. Pteranodon is a specific type of Pterasaur. One of the larger ones. I was born in 1957 so I was conceived some time during Xmas.
I remember not only 78s, but make-your-own-78s-at-home machines.
My father had an Edsel.
Definitely of the Beatles generation, and, yes, if you weren’t there, you really can’t imagine what it was like. Harry Potter probably comes closest, but even the Boy Who Lived didn’t hit society the same way the Fab Four did.

The first panel reminds me of that one Calvin and Hobbes comic where Calvin asked his dad if there were dinosaurs when he was a kid.

I thought it was the Ninsega. I don’t care if it’s changed retroactively, I demand consistency with what is and isn’t a parody.

I am old enough to remember pre-Beatles, the Edsel and when all my albums were on vinyl – I even remember 78s.

He may not be old enough for the Edsel, but he should still know how awesome the Beatles are from the records his parents played on the phonograph!

I was a senior in high school the day the news came out that The Beatles had broken up. Never saw so many shocked teenagers in my life. Yep, I’m old.

The controller Dad is holding means he is playing a Wii, and the Wii is now old.

There is no flying reptile that bears the name “Pterodactyl”. What people think of when they hear the name is actually a Pteranodon.

Now I do feel old, since none of you are referencing “Ape Call” performed by Nervous Norvus, summer 1956.
