241 comments yesterday beats the all-time record of 218 the day we found out Stiletta had been killed. (Only 145 of those made the transition to the new site.)
- There are three Margies – Big, Middle, and Little.
- The three are involved in running ’CosUCon’
- ‘CosUCon’ is being held at the ‘Locher Auditorium.’
- TV Horror Movie Host ‘Svengoolie’ will be hosting and judging CosUCon’s Cosplay Contest.
- The Cosplay Contest features a grand prize of $10,000.
- CosUCon’s ‘Program Books’ were sent to the ‘Margies’ by mistake, when they should have been sent to ‘Brian.’
- Harold Teen, Shadow, and Pop Jenks know of the convention, thanks to a promotional poster placed in the window of ‘The Sugar Bowl’ by a young woman whose identity we haven’t puzzled out.
- Honeymoon ‘might’ be competing in the cosplay contest in her ‘Chimetra’ costume.
- Astor will be competing in his ‘MegaMan’ costume.
- Both Honeymoon and Astor’s costumes include working lights. Might these be used to startle someone at an opportune moment?
- Astor’s brother has a table/booth at the convention, where he will be selling cosplay props.
- Astor’s brother has a blog.
- Astor’s brother’s ‘Latest Build’ is heavy enough that Astor can only wear it for about 40 minutes at a time.
- Astor will be wearing his brother’s ’Buster Bot’ at Astor’s brother’s booth to drum up business.
- Honeymoon has invited her ‘Pop-Pop,’ Dick Tracy, to CosUCon.
- Earlier, Sam Catchem and Lizz Worthington had gifted Dick Tracy with ‘The Yellow Mask.’
- Upon arrival, Tracy is mistaken for ’Inspector Gadget.’
- Honeymoon meets up with her friend, ’Connie Mail Wong’
Looks like Honeymoon lost her electric charges in panel three. At least she didn’t lose her attenna like she did the other day! LOL! Things have been sloppy lately.
Tracy looks very pleased in panel 3. Maybe Junior and Sparkle know about Connie and he was briefed on her (and Honeymoon’s other friends) before taking her to the CosUcon.
Nevertheless, $10k just doesn’t seem to be in the same league with Mr. Bribery or most historic Tracy villains.
At least some of the famous, classic villains from Tracy’s past were into penny-ante operations. Although Shoulders got into jewel theft later, he started out running a gang of pick-pockets and street thieves. *Gargles*’ racket was trying to strong-arm drug store owners into buying his cheap, imitation mouth wash, which he himself refused to use. T.V. Wiggles was running a silly protection operation, where his thugs would shoot corn syrup into the inner workings of television sets in bars, unless the bar owner paid the mob. Miss Egghead was raising roosters for illegal (male-chicken) fighting. Chester Gould started exploring crime syndicates in the mid- 1950s, when their real-life counterparts started being in the news. Then, in the 1960s, he started introducing villains with grandiose schemes for world domination, etc. I always thought that might be a response to the James Bond sort of fiction that became hugely popular in print and on screen about that same time.
Ray Toler’s identification of RL Connie Mai Wong with the DT CosUCon Connie Mail Wong is satisfying at one level; but it troubles me—maybe I’m just being picky—that Honeymoon’s friend appears to be both younger and shorter than the RL Connie Mai.
Next up, it would seem, is Astor, as Buster Bot, which I take to be the costume he can wear only 40 minutes at a time by his own estimate….
Still no sign of any criminal activity at the con; stay alert, Tracy!
Since the current story started out in a soda shop, I can’t fail to mention the death of Erin Moran, who played Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days. She was only 56 and the cause of death seems to be stage 4 cancer.

Hmm…long-distance relationship…

Connie looks younger today. I kind of wondered how Honeymoon would have a mysterious friend who was older.

I’m assuming that Buster Bot is a character in the Dick Tracy universe and not in ours. AnyFace was right about it being a mecha, I guess.

Good morning guys!
My ears are still ringing after listening to Gweedo’s performance of “The 1812 Overture” yesterday!

I wonder if the name is a play on that of old-time Asian actress Anna May Wong.

I like Connie’s silver wig! Classic anime hair style for (cough) “Anime” Wong.

“Mail,” as in “Chain Mail,” is a popular material often used in period costumes.

Two ‘Bots’ associated with ‘Buster’ come to mind:
- The planet-sized GUNBUSTER …

- And the mecha from TOKUMEI SENTAI GO BUSTER …

Team Tracy might also be going for a ‘Buster Brown’ type of name.

Connie’s epaulets look like open books. Perhaps she’s a novel-ty character?

I’m wondering if the Buster Bot is the target. If it’s some sort of mecha-styled power rig, maybe it could be used for breaking into places.
