Whom do I kill about the fact that this page flicked over to a full-screen ad for gold-buyers, four times in a row, giving me time enough to read maybe two sentences of comic between flicks? No, I did not accidentally click on anything.
I just got sent to a virus sight on another comic by some pop up ads - the other day I got sent to porn. I just go to contact us and let them know. This seems to be happening a lot lately, and I report each one now. Not sure what we can really do to get this fixed or if GoComics really cares.
You guys have malware on your computer. Where’ve you been surfin’?
Be aware that some malware will tell you that you have a virus, and that you need to buy their software to get rid of it. Other virus-detectors don’t notice such a virus. This is because the malware is trying to sell you something you don’t need.
Do a GOOGLE search on the exact warning message, and find out how to clean up your computer.
NoScript is an extension/Plugin to Firefox, go to Firefox main page and do a search under the extensions
tab.
It keeps all pop ups and potentially dangerous ads, etc away, but you’ll need to get used to checking what has been blocked on your legitimate web pages,(drop down menus, password fields etc)as Noscript will block those too, just hit “Allow” from the drop down menu to build the Noscript “safe” sites memory log..
I access this site through a library computer. I haven’t gotten switched over to an ad today, but a “Hot Black Dates” site is the occasional hijacker here.
Edit: Spoke too soon – I got the “we’ll buy your gold” ad while reading “For Heaven’s Sake”, then again while visiting “The Quigmans”.
I got zapped bad by this thing called MSAdware. It was trying to look like a microsoft product. It kept telling me I needed to download their freesoftware/ I was smart enough not to download it but had a heckuva time eliminating the nasty adware I already had.
I got Firefox because users at comics.com said Explorer keeps freezing up there. But then when I tired to use FFox for GoComics, it freezes up here, so I have to switch between browsers depending on the site.

@4deerinmyyard Scan your computer for a browser hijacker, because nothing like that is happening to me.

Spybot Search and Destroy is my favorite. It gets rid of malware and it’s FREE. I depend on it a lot.
