Bernice’s flashback self in the second panel doesn’t look to bad. Anyway, online shopping has a few downfalls: waiting for the order to arrive, getting the item in the wrong color or size, unknowingly order more than the one item while trying to click “send order” while the Internet connection seems slow

“I miss the mall.”…………..At the rate they are closing, I’d say the mall misses you too.

I went to the mall with my daughter this past weekend and we had a great time shopping. I do like the part of online shopping where you can get pretty much anything you want quickly, but there is something to going shopping when you don’t necessarily know what you want, as it was for us trying to figure out something for my spouse’s birthday.

Flashback Bernice looks more fashionable and stylish then I ever remember seeing her. While bflashback Luann looks like she was dressed by Shannon…

It’s funny, I’d gone over to LuannFan.com to catch up on Ann Eiffel, then went looking for the point at which Luann changed to her present hairstyle, so that was still fairly fresh in my mind.

I can’t say I do. However, I sure miss the old hobby shops we used to have around here. Getting stuff online isn’t as much fun but it is necessary for getting tools and paints.

I still like the mall, primarily the book store and clothing stores, no matter how much one likes online clothes shopping, I would still prefer to try on the clothes before buying (one exception is Banana republic since I know my size by heart)

If you miss the mall then go to the mall. I don’t know where you live but there’s plenty in my area.

I’m probably one of the last of the stalwarts, still going to the malls/plazas/shopping centers/strip malls. The human touch. Plus, it’s an excuse to get out from the indoors (providing it’s not a tsunami or maelstrom going on). I’ll use Amazon for dealing with record shop vendors or some DVDs that aren’t at the store, but that’s about the extent of it.

    -

Lots of people still do go out, but lots don’t. Some situations may call for one or the other, though. Balance is the key to this. The way I see it, you can’t expect the kids to get off the devices and get outdoors, if you don’t!

So the Ladies got all “glammed up” hoping, that in addition to “shopping,” they’d meet Guys. I’m Sorry, “Cute” Guys. But THAT Never happened, did it Ladies? Luann, you met YOUR (gag) “cute guy” when Tiffany foolishly played “Hey, Look what I Got,” with Q-Ball. Bernice met Zane on Her last job, introduced by, of all people, the De-lightful Ann Eiffel! So what was the point of going to Mall to meet guys??

Oh one MORE Thing: How Come it’s perfectly ‘okay’ for the gals to say they’re going to the Mall to “cute guys,” but if guys say they’re going to Mall to meet “cute girls,” then “They” are “Sexist Pigs?”

The only guys at the mall around here are the skate boarder types, plus a few nerds (going to the video game stores), otherwise zilch.

In NYC, one of the most enjoyable things is just walking up Broadway, hitting various stores. Still buy stuff online, though. Sometimes it’s better, sometimes it isn’t.

I miss the mall as well. Especially the Arcades from back in the 80s (Space Invaders, Defender, Pacman and the rest). It claimed so many of my quarters.

I miss large, downtown department stores—the ones that had tea rooms on the mezzanine, and decorated their store windows for Christmas. I also miss large bookstores, where you can cuddle up in a soft chair and read. Those were the days.

I can only presume this is a national phenomena, but here in the Phoenix area we have been plagued with thieves following Fed-Ex and UPS trucks around, and stealing packages off of doorsteps within 20 minutes of delivery. A lot of people now have security cameras on their homes, but the thieves are counting on that and covering up identifying features.

I still go to my mall but my favorite stores don’t have everything so I have no choice but to shop online for the rest.

Yeah, going to the mall on the weekends used to be a big deal. My sister and I could spend the whole afternoon there. Now, with anchor stores closing and people shopping online or elsewhere, they’re rapidly disappearing. There are also problems with gangs. It was inevitable that malls would eventually go out of style but it’s still sort of sad.

I miss shopping at the mall, period. The closest mall to where I live is the Galleria in nearby Vestavia. Unfortunately, I have neither time nor money to go.

Marian Diamond:At times people post obits for individuals who have entertained, or who have changed the world. Marian Diamond is among the latter. On the campus where she worked Marian Diamond was known as “the professor with the hat box”. Inside that decorated box was a preserved human brain. Although that brain was not Einstein’s she was a neuroscientist who did study his brain, but she did far more – far, far more. Marian Diamond was the individual who showed that the brain is not a static organ solely dependent upon genetics or doomed to become less flexible and capable with age. She demonstrated the continuing plasticity of the brain and shattered that now long defunct myth. Currently, there are five known essentials for brain health and development at any age with which we can all help ourselves: diet, exercise, challenge, newness and love. The last was discovered when rats were dying too young to study very old age brains. Daily cuddling elongated their lives and improved their quality of of life. Want to continue to think clearly? Eat a balanced and healthy diet, get some exercise each day, enrich your life with learning and with new concepts, experiences, and viewpoints instead of staying in a rut (something people sometimes do here when they decide to think about the ideas of people who differ substantially from themselves), and give love, consideration and respect to others to get it back in turn. Marian Diamond’s hard work gave us this information and in her memory we each can use that gift each day.

Out here in the boonies there is little choice; either order online or drive 2 1/2 hours to the mall or box stores. I prefer clicking the checkout box on my computer screen. I do miss the experience of interacting with other people or just watching them.

One comment on the human foible, history Luannverse Sunday toon: Bernice can look very sexy if she glams up. I think she is drawn bland, or plain most of the time to aggravate (if I can use that term) the anxiety and hopelessness, somewhat, of her character.

I’m…Different. I do not “do” online shopping if I can avoid it, and most of the time I can avoid it. So, shopping malls or strip malls still attract my dollars. And they will, so long as they (and I) exist….
